We have tried to update in stages, using Brunhilde on a long'ish trip and then deciding what we would need to add/change to make the next long trip more successful/convenient. So most of the changes are in a chain. Had Gaslow x 2 fitted 13th July 2021, a 120Ah Lithium the following day [how to blow £1600 in 24 hours ...], then, via David @wildebus ,Ablemail AMT12-2 Battery Reconditioner + Ablemail B2B Charger in Jan 2022 [after the dreaded Airbag ECU failure that set us back just over £1300 including new ECU, reprogramming, new Vehicle Battery ['VB'] to replace the duff new VB after 7 days]. Added 2 x Ablemail ABB07 in April 2022 to enable the Ablemail App to report on SOC for the VB and LB to the phone and added a constant feed switch to the AMT12-2 to force the LB to charge the VB for 9 seconds in every 10. Then, back to @wildebus in late Septmber 2022 to add Victron Inverter and 4 sockets, including double socket in broom cupboard [or Ski Locker as Burstner describe it] for Bike Battery charging and outdoor cooking via Vango Induction Hob and Vango Folding Table.

After all that, we realised that our 'will only ever be lightly used' Inverter gets far more use than planned, so we will need to upgrade the Lithium LB and the Solar Panel to avoid the squeaky bum moments when even the Lithium pleads for mercy!

Changing the back axle to a high ratio was my best move, first one was 8.41 and new unit is 11.43 which dropped the reves down by 1000, so now i can site in the midle of the green band on r counter doing 56mph and burning less fuel.
Crikey Trev, what wagon is that with 6 leaf springs? My last one, a Chausson on a 2021 Transit had ONE, PLASTIC leaf (that is to say one plastic leaf at each wheel). Lightweight I guess. I only had the camper for a month before we got fed up with it and traded it.
You must have got the axle used from a scrap yard or something. I can't imagine the cost of it and changing it (I presume you did that yourself) would be a financial benefit.

That post makes me think of an episode of the Simpsons.... Where everywhere Homer goes, there is a Hotdog salesman. Marge says to him something like "how come you are always around" and he replies "Lady, your husband is putting my kid through college" :)

I would would say "Steve, you're keeping my cat in Carnation" (and you know there is no more important thing than that on earth! (Or you would if you lived with my cat!! ).

But seriously... I think as soon as someone gets an inverter it really does free up a range of possibilities, and often the effect of an inverter is an overall power saver despite the popular opinion that they waste energy. Those folk who think that need to see the bigger picture ;)

when i first suggested to david that i was moving on from his hybrid system to a huge fogstar he said it’s like buying a sports car because the power is there you use it ! his hybrid system was so good in comparison to the 2 x110A lead acids i had we included an airfryer now we have more power a microwave is fitted and she is looking at induction hobs lol
