Both sites

Must admit I still prefer WC, and it will still stay my forum of choice for the foreseeable. WC was the first forum I had ever signed up for, as I was so impressed with the homely feel of it, but I do keep popping in here to have a nosey. I'm old school though and don't like change. I don't know what it is but it has a bit of a 'dull' feel when the new forum comes on, can't put my finger on it, anybody else feel the same?

Yes I never have the central heating on in the late spring to early autumn then everybOctober we have a little man comes and services it for us ready for the winter.

How do you get hot water in tank to wash, dont tell me you use a emersion cos it is in no way cheaper than oil/gas.
My heating is on stats as all should be so only comes on when it drops below 21c,the water is on sep circuit with stat on tank ,so hot water all year round to wash dishes cloths etc.

Do you not have combi boilers in NI Trev, instant hot water on demand so you don't need to have the heating on at all

do try to use both sites, however, because of the learning curve i have had to master , i find i have concentrated on this site more..........

it would e helpful if there was a button to press to enable to switch from 1 site to the other..........

i am trying to make as many posts as i can, cos i think that is what phil wanted......albeit trivial , however, it all adds to ithe forum.......

On linux i have two web buttons,i can load up both sites and just click each one to view, but then most folk are stuck on the old windows clap trap.

That’s it you could have saved me a lot of typing don’t want to be disloyal that explains it better
:Thumbs_Up_Hand_Sign

In 2012 or whenever it was I googled for WildCamping spots as that's what we wanted to do after our 6 month Europe trip and purely be accident / co-incidence found what I wanted all in one place. Signed up straight away which is not like me, no brainer, and been posting as many WC POI's as I can ever since.

Yes there gas,we are on oil as not everywhere has gas,my sys can heat only the water without heating the rads, two port sys.

No we have the boiler on for the hot water we just have the central heating switched off they run off the same boiler but like most systems you can have them timed on or off independently

I have been busy at work so still juggling between the two sites and no preferential between any at this moment

I was assured by Admin that the POIs will not be on this site as its not that type of forum it's aimed at M Homers with a different mindset

We haven't all just flipped a 2nd personality therefore I'd say we've all got the same mindset ? You're here, I'm here, most users are WC'ers as far as I can see are here so I'm struggling with that one a bit, sorry ? 90+% of what I've seen on here wouldn't be outta place over there ? I'm not one of those against this new fangled modern wizardry sparkling forum that's why I'm here but nobody has answered any of my q's. I think the one about tyres I posted above explains my ( is it just me?) dilemma.

& when ya click on the 'hamburger' one of the options is POI'S which says they'll be available in Jan. Be interested to see what the POI's are on here ?

Not spoiling for an argybargy, just genuinely confused. What answer would you give to my tyre conundrum posted above. It might help me ! Is the answer chose one site or t'uther ? Perhaps post in both ... time consuming and 90+% will see both posts anyway? And if 90+% are on both sites.... round and round in circles I go.

Admin (Phil) you read everything. How do you see the answer to my tyre conundrum above ( page 3 me thinks)?

Time 4 a lie down, my head hurts.

I'm a Windows user and find it does everything I need it to.
On windows more than one tab can be opened so it's straightforward to have WC on one tab and MH on another then switch from tab to tab.
So Linux suits some, Windows or other operating systems suits others. Different tools for the same job. Not clap trap, just different.

Colin ???

Isn't that the same as having 2 tabs open in a browser Trev?

I don't want to put words in mouths, but there's been a lot of talk over there about refreshing, sounding about change of name  etc. Old forum clunky, out-of-date, not supported, slow -> see where it's been going for the last few months ? ... Itchy feet me thinks. The die-hards are reluctant to change so double up for time being? Interested in what POIs will eventually be on here, seems clear to me ? When it was mentioned that Meets and Insurance etc were on here I didn't add 2+2 and get 5.

There are some styling / formatting issues on here that could still could be tweaked if possible which I've not mentioned because they're my personal likes/choices.

1 Admin, two "sister" sites mostly the same folks, & which currently have cross-over chat IS STILL CONFUSING me, aaarrrgh. E.g Tyres. Do I have to contribute the same info to WC WHEN (not if) someone posts about "which tyre ... ". No, of course I have a choice not to, I want to support this new venture but I (LIKE MANY OTHERS) would feel genuinely disloyal to my spiritual WC home. I don't think that's getting through yet.

I will try to explain some of this in statements

1) The wild camping POI locations will NEVER appear on this website and there will never be a wild camping section.

2) The POI section on this websites will be for campsites / CL / motorhome services.

3) This website does not officially launch until 1st January 2018 and is in beta testing mode until then. That is why some features do not work.

4) Nothing has been copied from wild camping, this site is not a spin off, it is not a split or division. Wild camping remains the same except for the meets.

5) I do not want people to move here from wild camping, if they want to use both site because they enjoy them then that is great. Some members who do not enjoy wild camping may move here exclusively, but that is their choice.

6) Many people use several forums and Facebook pages everyday.

7) The ONLY reason that there is a link between the two forums is that the rallies and meets have moved to motorhomer.com.

The meets have moved here because the people who do all the hard work arranging the meets want them here. It is difficult to negotiate with venues when you are called "Wild Camping". I have been turned down by several venues because of the name. We use our camping exemption at many of our meets. The camping exemption needed to be in the name of motorhomer if we are going to book meets under motorhomer. I did not want to apply for a new exemption as we now have a 5 year clean slate and we can now have paragraph 5 to open our own CLs. To change the exemption name I had to change the company name. After changing the company name I had to change this on the insurance as well. Only full members of the named organisation can attend meets, so I have given free full membership on motorhomer to all the full members of wild camping if they want it.

8) This site is in no way a replacement for wild camping, wild camping will remain my primary focus.

The funny thing is that people moan at me all the time that the off topic chat is killing WC. They moan that we should never have rallies as they go against the ethos of WC. They say that they look at the front page and there is nothing to do with wild / off grid camping. Many members believe these things are weeds that are preventing wild camping being what it is suppose to be; a forum about wild camping in motorhomes. These weeds are flowers on motorhomer and have been replanted there. Now wild camping can blossom and become a true wild camping website once more.

Wild camping mainly gains members from search engines, those members are looking for wild camping, not rallies and Brexit.
Motohomer is a general motorhome community it does not have a focused niche and is just a place for motorhome owners to chat.

I have both on my bookmarks toolbar so I can flick from one to the other just by clicking on them, simple

Thanks for that explanation Phil,I must admit to being somewhat confused about the relationship between the 2 forumsThe name change makes perfect sense if potential new venues are worried by the name ''wild camping''and it is affecting bookings. There is still some ambiguity for me though because a lot of the standard motorhoming subjects-tyres,grey waste, and what people put in their toilet which would normally be on WC have been discussed on here which will surely dilute that type of content on WC.
Personally I hardly ever wild camp, don't use the poi data very much and enjoy the occasional meet/rally so will probably be better to stay on here.

The reasons for those discussions was just to kick start the forum and give new members something to engage with.

The point is that this forum has been built for a new audience, not for the members of wild camping to have as a second home.

Some of us wildcampers that enjoy going to meets will have to use the site as a second home as this will be where the meets will be posted.

quiet happy to have two forum it fill more time in the day and therfore it brill i have about six pages that iuse every day and then i wander off thanks to the forums as something ihave read so go and have a look at theat and then i might see something on the page iwent to look at that take me elsewhere so gratefull for two fourms it helps fill the day for me

I'm using both at the moment.

If the 'weeds' are an issue on WC, will you close the general chat on there? I wouldn't be against that.

Hi, right, having read Phil's long explanation I'm now fully in the picture of what is (and isn't) happening....and his reasons LOL ! I jumped to a couple of wrong conclusions !! Now everything is perfectly clear...though I notice a couple of minor concerns for other members....not a problem for me. I will mostly post in here but look at WC too. Hopefully everybody will be happy....Maja
