Hmm - Curious.
My head says Yes as its France, and we will get ferry from France, but no customs on the route we took.
What are your thoughts?

You only need to get your passport stamped when entering the shengen country's and leaving.
Excellent News, so can sleep tonight, hopefully, found the Nogaro racetrack, parked outside in carparks with a Dutch van.
Couple of Renault Sports racing round, was three but a squeal of wheels and brakes suggest not a good ending for the blue and white one.

Italian immigration say as long as you have a stamp from entering France and you haven’t exceeded your 90 days they are happy.

Could get a wee bit tricky for UK residents who are Irish Passport holders and their spouses/immediate family members who enjoy exemption from the 90 days stay limit. The new EU Entry/Exit System should manage the process, but, in the interim, there have been reports of Border Officials stamping/not stamping passports; so anyone who travels with an Irish Passport holding spouse and then wishes/needs to travel to EU using their own 90 days Allowance will need to ensure that stamps are applied for the joint travel, and will be wise to keep emails of ferry bookings etc so that problems around overstay when travelling solo can be corrected without drama. The EU Border Guard Technical Manual instructs Staff to offer travellers the chance to have the record corrected at the Border by showing proof of the earlier joint travel

The restrictions apply only to the Schengen Area. Stamp on the way in, stamp on the way out. Simples.
Eire is not part of the Schengen Area.

We came back through the tunnel last week after going out in January. On both occasions the Border Guards stamped the passport, no problems.

I have read that some folks say they haven't been stamped when returning and were worried about whether this was the proof they needed regarding the 90 days in Schengen thing. I guess the answer is to quickly check when the passports are handed back if you don't see them stamping them and then ask them to do so before you move on.

There is provision in the Rules, Graham, for a missed stamp to be inserted, even on a subsequent trip. The Border Guard Technical Manual (which I have on my phone ...!) says the traveller must be given the chance to show the leaving date by providing tickets, booking emails etc, and there must not be a presumption of guilt of overstaying, so no 'hostile environment'. The Manual states that the overwhelming majority of travellers are bona fide and are exercising their legal rights and must be treated accordingly

Any chance of posting that manual as a file on here Steve. Might be useful for folks.

Can anyone point to the part that Steve refers to regarding not having an exit stamp? It would seem to be the most relevant to us.

I did have a look through the "Stamping travel documents" part but didn't see it.
