Brittany Ferries fitness to travel form

From the linked page:

If you have been diagnosed with an infectious disease (chickenpox, measles, mumps, rubella, viral gastroenteritis, meningitis…)

If that's the case, they've just given a list of common 'childhood ailments', so most of those travelling who were children pre-MMR vaccine etc. will have contracted one or more as children and hence might need to complete this form. AFAICT, completing the FFT is outside NHS and doctors can charge what they want. AIUI, my doctor charges £90 for D4 driver's medical and I suspect a similar cost for BF's FFT?

Brittany Ferries are now off my travel list for the foreseeable future. GDPR aside, Who are their staff going to sell this information to (It happens). How secure is your personal information on their servers? - They have now lost a regular customer and I would advise anyone else who values their privacy to ignore the request or find another ferry operator. Make sure you have appropriate travel insurance too.

We have two BF trips booked this year. I have a couple of conditions which can be termed "chronic" as they are long term, but they are under control with medication and reviewed annually with my GP. We both have travel insurance where my conditions were declared and the appropriate excess paid. I shall continue to ignore this particular BF requirement on the basis that if I wasn't fit to travel, I either wouldn't have obtained travel insurance or it would have been so expensive that I couldn't afford it 🤣. Out of minimal interest what happens to last minute foot passengers, do they get a medical at the passenger terminal 🤔🤔
But the BF Form says, IIRC, that failure to complete the Declaration and to follow the BF [less than clear] Rules, will lead to the Captain denying you boarding. The BF approach looks to be very ham-fisted, and a bit of a gift for other Ferry Companies!

Errr ....... how would they know that the form needs filling in ? If they were really looking to do this properly they should add a medical question when you fill in the API prior to sailing and alter the API requirement to 7 days prior.

Just pointing out the process that BF have imposed, in their half-baked fashion, Val, which is the problem. Could have been written on blotting paper, it's that fuzzy and indistinct, but the Skip makes the decision ...

BF have just introduced a form which you need to fill out stating Your fit to travel on their ferry's
I sent a Email to this address medical.enquiries@brittanyferries.com complaining about the FTT form and the expense that getting it filled would cost me Our Doctor £90 a form so £180 for us to get forms filled so I was being forced to arrange my channel crossing else where.
Their reply was slow but Positive suggesting I might not req one ? So maybe if they got several emails this might be reversed

Post #21 above from Gordon [Norfolk Newboy] gives an answer from BF to a member of a competitor Forum
Was hoping for direct answer from someone here who had sent a email not just hear say the more complaints BF get the more likely they are to realize that this FTT form is losing them customers

Post #21 says its a direct copy from a competitor Forum viz: stable conditions do not require the Fit to Travel Form; neither Gordon's original Post #21 nor my reference to it said anything about BF losing customers because of the Form

If BF think the way the Fitness to Travel Form is referenced, with what appears to be sparse information spread across different pages, is a triumph of corporate communications, they perhaps need to look at what they have issued through the eyes of a paying customer, but that is a separate issue. If Gordon's post is not adequate for your purposes, email BF in your own right, but please don't moan/criticise members of the Forum who try to answer your question

My wife has Parkinson's and so we requested a cabin close to lifts with grab handles in shower, not unreasonable. This triggered a fit to travel form being issued. I replied that unless they were prepared to discount the ticket by the cost of the GP's signature (£35 to us) I wasn't prepared to get it as Parkinson's Disease doesn't increase the likelihood of a critical illness unexpectedly occurring half way across Bay of Biscay, in fact as you re-evaluate your life choices on diagnosis I'd be more concerned about the health of undiagnosed passengers AND CREW. They finally rescinded and said my wife's self certified Fit to Travel was sufficient... persistence paid off
