https://ibb.co/album/ph7CkP This was when we could wild camp in a car park at the bottom of the city by the canal and parkland happy days, free parking always busy no services but fab spot short walk through parks to town and where the horse and carts left from, did you every park there ? Canal swimmers are taking part in a Triathlon ? can you smell the Chocolate ooohhhhhh?

Yes, we've often parked there in the past. We loved the stroll through the parks too, and only 15 minute into the town. Great restaurants too.

For a change we occasionally walked along the canal to the east, passing the windmills with vertiginous steps, returning around the outer western perimeter.

More recently, we visited Ghent, and found it every bit as nice, but a little less touristy. Must go there again.
