Hi All,
A little while ago (Sept/Oct 2021) I posted that we had a problem with the Mercedes Sprint-shift gearbox on our 2004 Burstner T-Star 680. That it wouldn’t shift up automatically, but it was ok in “manual” mode and changing down, but wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding going up any hill whatsoever. We had many replies from the forum members, for which we are grateful.
I just thought that an update was required as it’s now resolved! After the initial responses we hauled her round many specialists who spent many hours (mostly freely given), but were unable to help as they couldn’t manage to get their equipment read the software on the ECU etc. So, after several months and many frustrations, in the end it was bite the bullet and after a six week wait for an appointment we got her into Marshall Mercedes (trucks & van) in Andover yesterday. I rang them at the beginning of December last year but they couldn’t fit her in until yesterday (12/01/22), & they’re currently booking well into February! Glad to say they diagnosed and fixed the problem (a faulty electromagnetic pressure transducer for the turbocharger apparently). The painful bit? A very reasonable £351. The good news is she now goes like a scalded rabbit.

Good news story . Pleased for you

I think it is way past time that all garages were given the full OBD2 info on all vehicles, this would bring down cost all over, after all, it is your vehicle and you should have the right to have it repaired wherever you like.
