Continental Tyres

I know this can be a matter of opinion and there is probably no definitive answer but I would be interested in your experiences and advice/recommendations...

i have a 2004 Ducato 2.8JTD Van Conversion by IH, I tend to cover 100-150 miles a day ( around 10,000 p.a.) when touring at speeds well under the limits, just bowling along for the most time, rarely on A roads and never on motorways.

the van was fitted with Michelin Agilis Camper tyres when I bought it and I thought they were awful so changed to Continental Vanco Camper 215/70/15 tyres and they have been brilliant if relatively fast wearing at just 25000 miles. I think my mind is made up to fit replacements from Continental but don't know whether I need "Camper" tyres this time?(kings new clothes perhaps?)

I can see Continental Vanco 100, Vanco 2, Vanco 4 season in the correct size and loading 109/107, but have not yet found an objective comparison of these tyres. So, is it worth changing away from the Camper tyres to one of these and why? What are your experiences or what other make would you recommend and why?

I look forward to your replies

K ;)

I've been happy with ordinary Vancos from new. Front lasted about 30000 miles and rear are soon to be replaced due to age.
There is a fairly new comparison between tyres of a rating for fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise with ratings of A to E. Have a look at https://www.blackcircles.com/ and enter your size to compare.

Thanks for your reply 2CV but what are "ordinary" Vancos? Non-campers obviously but which ones?

cheers

I have Michelin Agilis on my merc Sprinter van conversion for the last 30 thousand miles, the only time they are not so good is getting out of a muddy festival field!Otherwise I think they are very good,I also tow a car trailer with a classic Mini Cooper racing car and very pleased with their stopping ability and economy.

We have a 2014 Autocruise Forte, fitted from new with non camper Conti Vanco 2's. Present mileage is 25k and from what is left on the tread I think they should last to 30k ish.
I don't hang around or mollycoddle the van and am driving on everything from continental motorway trips to single track Highland and West of Ireland roads.
I like the Conti's, have used them for years on cars vans and motorbikes and reckon they are a hard to beat balance of grip stability noise price and longevity.

My tyres are the round black ones and never been anywhere near the continent yet.

We have Vanco 4 season fitted, all seem ok not done enough mileage to see what the wear was like. Our previous van we had Michelin Agilis Alpin put on and still going well after 5 years and about 8k per year use. Both are winter tyres, which we use all year, which give better grip in "off road" circumstances especially on damp fields !!

And I bet they are the type that when punctured are only flat at the bottom?

Thanks all, I do think I will replace the campers with non-campers by Continental but am still unsure which. I still don't know what the difference is between a Vanco 100 and a Vanco 2 ? 4 seasons sound interesting...

perhaps I need to do more research and read the specifications more closely

cheers

Wow yes how did you know .

New set of Vanco 2 on my camper. Replaced original Vanco tyres 215/75/16.

Seem fine, grip good, don’t over inflate.
