160 W Solar panel now in situ with wires through glands & ready to connect to controller. Instructions say it is 24 V or 12 V. but not how to set it to desired voltage. Will it automatically pick up the 12 V system?
Sorry to be a dumbo - knitting is more in my line. :)

The controller will automatically select the correct voltage. Don't forget to connect battery to controller before solar panel connection.

As LANDS43 wrote. Also, some brands (e.g. Victron Smartsolar) can be configured for either 12v or 24v. However, it loses configuration if you disconnect the battery for a long period. According to the supplier of my controller, this means that you must always connect the battery to the controller before you connect the solar panel.

Thank you LANDS43 have looked at some utube vids but they didn't mention that. Cheers

Thank you for this. :)
