Cover for bicycles on a bike rack

We will shortly be getting a tow ball mounted bike rack for our 2 EBikes however I am in the market for a good, durable cover for the bikes when they are on the rack and in transit.

Can anyone out there recommend a cover that you have used?

Hinderman do pretty robust bike covers, not cheap but do the job.

I have now installed my new bike rack on the MH. I went for a Thule Outpace 2 in the end along with the Zettum bike cover.

Fitting both were a struggle but I'm sure that will improve with practice.

I drove 30 miles yesterday and the bikes stayed on...which was nice!

We tried a few lashups with tarpaulin with very little success.

However well tucked in the bikes were, they got mucky.

So bad that we decided not to bother, and left them out in the open. At least the rain rinsed them then.

In the end the solution was to buy a motorhome with a 'garage' - which is just a poncey name for a 'boot'.

In the boot, the bikes travel clean, dry and warm. They don't make the van longer and they are not visible to miscreants.

Hopefully you find bike covers that do the job and are not a huge faff to fit and remove.

We carried folding EBikes in our garage but wanted to get full size ones (full sized wheels) as Mrs G is an anxious cyclist so that helps her.

In fact I need to get the EBikes on for sale as we now don't need them.

Ours are full size ebikes.

In fact they're the old (best) sort of Kalkoffs that are a few inches longer in the frame to make room for the battery.

Wonderful bikes, still good as new after over a decade of light use, but they are quite tall and very long, so they reach almost all the way across the width of the van, one each side of the boot, with other boot clobber in between them.

We also have a small bike trailer that (just) fits in between them in the boot, but it's years since we last used that.

It's really for when you stay somewhere and need to do a shopping trip on the bikes - and we tend not to stop anywhere for very long at a time.

We are the opposite. We stay at places for 1-2-3 weeks at a time so we use ours for getting put and about. Nothing too strenuous but just to see more of the locality we are in if it's safe to do so.
