Damned laptop has died

Sorry but total tosh these days, many good desk tops on linux these day, mint lite zorin for starters, and things have changed in 15 years, the top distros are for work and play, email web picture formating etc, this is what 99% of what folk do at home, also very good for biz work and security.
You lot may have dabbled in the early days but things have changed big time, if you are not in you cannot win. 😂
I'm in the lead by not having Linux :D

Nop falling way behind, windows is finished, most folk now use a android mobile, sales on home pc is way down, only biz uses them, top users all run linux, nasa for starters.
Use win at you peril. mozilla.jpg

must admit I am getting close to blocking some members... the constant obsessive posting about Linux and paranoid security issues is getting rather tedious :(

It's not fair to mock the afflicted.

Not forced to read posts or join in, but feck all else to do in winter, have you noticed one of you legs getting longer.😂

I am really missing my illuminated keyboard, it's a bit of a dark day and the keys are barely visible without putting the lights on.

Yes i like that, one i just upgraded to lite for a mate has all that on the keyboard, looks good and saves having the room light on, its also a large screen l top, thing is he paid way over the top for it, not a lot of sense where monies are involved.

I'm on Lizs old Inspiron, she bought it used 11 years ago, it's held together with parcel tape but it still works fine, we upgraded the ram to 8gb and SSD two years ago and a new battery.

I did try using the Chromebook, but it really is a shite OS.

A old one i have is a duo with 4gig mem and 150 h drive, i rebooted it to l lite for b inlaw but every time i ask himup for and hrs lesson on how to run and keep distro up to date and clean he did not bother, so last time i said to him if you dont want it, he sais just keep it i now just use a mobile.
Runs very nice and fast for what im doing, only take 10 sec more to boot than the mates new i7, so will do me fine.

Trev, if you kept your posts about Linux, or security paranoia just when relevant, no problem, but you manage to make the most irrelevant and obsure topics link to "you need Linux" replies and "they are watching you" comments.
WE DON'T NEED TO BE TOLD 100 TIMES A DAY.

Pudsey and me are having a banter, lighten up, anyway its my duty to enlighten folks LOL.
The site would be boring if all we ever talked about was toilets wiring etc. ;)

I am too guilty of pushing Trev down that road but I'm not alone in that regard.

I'm up for a fred about wiring a toilet, or were you just talking about the shite wiring in your van?
