Hi all
Does the internal temperature of your motorhome effect a damp meter?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Good question, I would guess that a cold surface may feel damp to the touch, but a damp meter just sends out a measured current and displays a figure or precentage I would say a warmer temp might give a different result.

Just done a check and had a panic as all % were high
Glad to know internal temp effects this - panic over

I think most of us have a meter, I tend to check mine on a known surface, such as a dry piece of wood that has acclimatised in the van, and then compare to that, needs to be a soft wood as what you are checking in the van is likely just a plywood behind a veneer of vinyl, ensure it is set to wood and not brick etc.

You will get higher reading in cold damp weather when van has been standing.

Van is sat on drive not been used for a month so that explains why % higher than normal
