Not for use in the motorhome !
My investigations for far lead me to believe the two are broadly similar in chemical composition.
Their burn properties are different but unlike petrol which is inflammable they are "heavier" and only flammable.
Nida mixes melted candle wax mixed with paraffin to clean/polish our wooden floors.
Paraffin is not easy to buy and seems to be more costly.
Thus can we use diesel instead ?

Further motorhome related question in the next post

How about Kerosene 28sec heating oil it would be nearer to paraffin than diesel

Paraffin is down the scale at about 20/25 sec and has no oil in it so burns clean ,made for lamps and aladin heaters,28 has a clean burn lub in it to stop pump wear on c/heating burners,in old days we ues 35 sec serv which is oily and gave more heat but the boilers required cleaning more often,we tip when filling your oil tank tip in two bottles of redex diesel cleaner,my boiler has not required cleaning in over 4 years.

Petrol, paraffin/kerosene and diesel variants are all from the same source just different refinement point. Any will dilute the wax it depends what smell you prefer.

The "Paraffin Garage" had supplies in so we bought 4 litres
Today clean the floor
Next buy suitable candles to melt and merge.
The paraffiin smell a bit for less than 30 mins but with doors and windows open it goes completely.
Floor looks great.
We shied away from diesel !

I used to like the smell of paraffin that and meths.

when i was floorlaying in France, it was normal to soak terracotta tiles in diesel overnight .
it stank for ages
for polishing floors we used any liquid wax, spray on , leave a while , polish off

Why soak the tiles in derv.

to seal them i was told. left them to dry then laid them . adhesive stuck ok, and the tiles , about 18mm thic , could easily be cut on a bandsaw or jigsaw. very odd. i've laid a lot of terracottas , and we usually sealed them with thinned linseed before laying , then waxed them.certainly couldn't cut them with a bandsaw !
