Diesel runaway on our motorhome !

That is indeed impressive, I notice it is RHD but the brake servo is on the nearside. One of those systems where they had a rod running across the bulkhead to operate the brakes.
I don't suppose there are many Cortinas that have done that mileage . . . What, I wonder, was the price difference between a Cortina and the Skoda?

Not sure but that car cost me £10 at 7 years old with 76th miles, stripped it down and replaced all worn bushes, h gasket and t chain.
Sold it as to much welding this time round and got £600 for it and the n plate which if you look up is on an english car.
Ford could never build a car as good, yes i worked on them to, garbage springs to mind.

I would have bought that reg number for my works van! The signage on the van side would have read "Service your boiler for £35 to £80" :)
In the 1980s I was working on cars, and as you say Fords were utter garbage. Not only were they designed with a 70,000 mile maximum life, but if you were rear-ended at more than 20mph the driver's seat upright would collapse and you would go to hospital and come out in a wheelchair.
