Disney plus question.

I am considering subscribing to Disney plus but I would like to watch the downloaded movies offline when on holiday either in the UK or in Europe. Has anyone actually done this? Obviously there is often no internet signal therefore I would download several movies at home before travelling.
I understand the movies would be downloaded to a laptop or phone which would then need connecting to my TV.

I’ve downloaded movies from Disney + to my iPad and watched them abroad and on the plane you can do the same with Netflix and Prime video. They store for a set number of days then delete automatically once you have watched them.

Apparently Disney plus has overseas restrictions. It also deletes downloaded movies if not logged in every 30 days. So.....would I need the hassle of a VPN to login from Europe if I was over there longer than 30 days?

If your using a mobile phone with a UK SIM you probably won't need a VPN 🤔

My iPad uses my phone connection my downloads abroad are fine until I log into say a cafe Wi-Fi then some are closed down. This will be the downloads not allowed in that country. You can also download BBC iPlayer and ITV but you need to pay for ITV.

Visit a charity shop and buy a bunch of DVD's.

You won't want to spend all of your holiday stuck in front of a TV!

Something new? Visit a cinema once or twice.

For the last few trips I've loaded the same +/- 6 dvds, some for the boss and some for me, and we've never watched any of them, nor the TV.

We prefer board or card games, plus a glass of something. 🍷 🙂

DVDs means a DVD player needed. Smart TVs don't have them. We don't spend our holiday in front of a TV. However after dark and when it's raining, you can only read so much. And as for cinemas, I am not fluent in French, German, Spanish etc. Not an option.

Can't stand board games and cards. Rather books and mags but after an hour, I'm restless. TV is a must for us, even if it's staying abreast of current affairs. Some go on holiday and switch off from the world. I can't do that. It's fine socialising on a site but we wildcamp mostly.
Satellite used to be the way to go but I'm not spending 1500 on a dish and besides, streaming is the future for all of us. Just a case of finding the best method.

Thats when you need a VPN but trying to avoid that. If you don't log in the downloads are safe for 30 days but if you pass 30 days without logging in, they are deleted anyway.
I have spoken with Disney and the restrictions are many. You can only download to mobile or tablet, not to a laptop. You cannot cast from mobile to TV. (Not sure yet how they stop you doing that). We are not going to watch a movie huddled round a mobile. So it seems to use a TV it's only possible to stream direct with no saved downloads. No good high in the Alps with no internet. You also have to be in a country that has Disney Global, which I assume is most of Europe.
This is why I asked the question to see if anyone has navigated the restrictions. I'm wondering if it's possible to connect mobile to TV via HDMI. Apparently there is a USB-C to HDMI adaptor. Or maybe the casting is just forbidden by Disney rules but still possible. Ideally it would be good to download several movies in the UK before Europe, thereby reducing data use on my plan while in Europe.
It's becoming a very technical and complicated world.

We just download and watch individually on our own tablets with ear phones, I use two tablets so I have a lot to choose from.
