Do you count your coins?

All my loose change goes in a coin jar at home.
Because it was full I decided it was time to cash it in using the coinstar machine at the supermarket.
Anyone else used one of these machines?

Being a true Yorkshireman I counted it first.....£88-40.
The machine charges 11.9% for the service so I expected to receive £77-87.
Well, it gave me just £61-30.
Not happy at all!

To be fair, after a 25 minute phone call to coinstar they agreed to send a cheque for the difference.

Moral of the story.....COUNT YOUR COINS!

I count my own and bag up and take to the bank except for when some scrote broke into my MH and nicked my tin which was full ??

Sorry, a true Yorkshireman would not have used a service that took 11.9% :(

I am with Annie of White Campers ... Bag in and hightail it to the bank.

Used to save them up, then bag and take to bank.
Now all the local supermarkets have self service tills, I make sure all my coins go in them. Best I've done so far is spend about £17 paid for in coins of no more than 10p. :ROFLMAO: Took a little while.
Not paying 11.9% though. :p

I used to take them to the bank but they have now imposed a limit of just a few bags. Not good when I had Lots.
The website said I could get the full amount in the form of a gift voucher for Amazon but the machine said different.
Had I known that before chucking the coins in they would have gone to the bank in multiple journeys.

yes same thing happened to me last year..........one and only time ever used one of these machines...never again......
counted it out beforehand...........couldnt believe how much short it had returned to me............used the one at morrisons..complained to customer svs....they said there was nothing they could do about it.........

No,no,no you’ve got it wrong.

All the shrapnel stays in my pocket, every now and again I’ll sift out the £1 and £2 coins and put into a jar. But as I tend not to pay too much by cash these days, cards are so much simpler, I don’t have a real need to carry much any more and my pockets are quite empty.

The exception to this is both my car and MH have small neoprene bags that I keep a lot of car park change in.

I use the coinstars about once a year, never count them as my attention span is too shor

Me to no money but as i found today hospital car park barriers require a ticket to open and the ticket yogi only excepts dosh.
You would think in this day and age a swipe window for cards would be an option but then again the nhs are miles behind.

hi
I don't like having too much change in my purse, every now and then I sieve out the 1p's, 2p's, 5p's & 10p's and put them in a bag which I give to a charity when they mount up (DON;T KNOW HOW MUCH), I save the 20p's for toilets so they are in most pockets, I tend to keep 50p's, £1.00 & £2.00 in my purse

Never use the supermarket machine, bank will do it for free. Our friends did natwest only the other week.

I just spend mine, I thought that’s what you did with coins lol.

Well, I try, but I find that on a night out, some ninja comes along without me noticing. He spills beer on my shoes, then takes a 20 out of my wallet and changes it into pound coins to put in my pocket.

Happens every time the ar5ehole. Lol.

Are you certain it’s beer that’s spilled? ?
