Draught

I have a Draught from the cab.

I can’t seem to find where it’s coming from

We have a pair of curtains that go from top to bottom and some.
They are fixed to the sides as well.

There’s not much Draught from the cab now.

However if they are open you can feel the Draught around your feet.
I can’t find where it is coming from or should I say I can’t see any open vents ect.

I have just ordered an external screen cover that also covers the top vent.

It’s says just to stop leaves ect dropping in the vents.

I know it won’t stop draughts. It was for the cold trips out where the windows could ice up.

So the next thought is to make out of waterproof material a bonnet and grill cover.

Does any have one and has it helped with any droughts .
I have an engine protector fitted to the underside of the engine as well.

Interested to see if anyone has found where the worst of the draughts come from.

Well I never expected a reply like that. Thanks was expecting a jokey response .

I have already been over those areas. But I have not found any thing around the both yet.

I did have a thermal Draught finder it detects temp drops when a Draught is found.

It never worked and ended up in the bin.
Another option I have been told is to cover the whole of the dash and steering wheel right to the floor than see if there is ant draughts .
The answer was no.

Sorry to be such a disappointment Fredo, the door pocket is where mine is, my legs are freezing somedays even in summer, if it wasn't such faff I put some duck tape on the back of the cover.

Get a lighted taper or tea light. and search for it, don't bother with a torch though they don't work as well.

I think I will ask a friend to have a look in these places .
I am unable to at the moment .

But I will mention not to bother using a torch though.

Look in the door pocket and the bottom of the B pillar.
I was going to make a similar comment. It is not something that has ever bothered me but on my coachbuilt Motorhome I can actually see the ground where the cab and MH body meet around the B pillar region. That could be a big potential for a draft.

Look around pedal box side window rubbers or vents, also steering shaft through floor. wireing harness throught bulkhead, fact is there are loads of places, fresh new air keeps you alive,in a sealed container you will over time die.

We usually leave the large skylight window cracked open at night
Maybe that’s something else that could cause a draught by sucking the cold in while letting the hotter sorry warmer air out..

Still it’s down to another now to sort it out as I have passed the van on a bit like a hand me down.
There pleased .so the next adventures are there’s ..

There are no holes in the bottom apart from a gas vent under the fridge and the hot water boiler. And the fire..

But they have wind deflectors underneath that the wind blows over and then will use a vortex effect to remove any gas if there is any.
But only while the van is in motion.

Our moho has an actual vent open to outside on the inner door step, its not closeable. Apparently its important to have some kind of a draught to stop condensation so I have just left it.
Can't help but think that theres probably draught getting in behind fridge / freezer with the 2 big vents that it has to outside on rear of it.
One of my skylights doesn't have a full rubber seal aswell although because of its design its still completely water proof.

I did do as much as I could with the fridge and that’s near on sorted and no draughts that cause any concern.
It’s the draughts from the cab end that’s the main concern . Really cold and draughty.

I thought if I put an external screen cover on. That’s on order and then a bonnet cover that could possible reduce the draught.

So. now going to mention covering the bonnet right the way down to the bumper with a plastic sheet to see if that does the trick.

If so it’s a case then of having a waterproof matching to the screen cover being made.

There are pre made covers but there silver . Not seen any to match the screen cover even the supplier of the cover does not make one in black…

It’s an easy make .. I will not be able to do it now but used to do everything myself. .

Not an actual hole, but a gap where the two parts join.

Mines or was mine is a 2003. And after 2006 lots of stuff changed on the fiat ducato

There are no visible vents in the pillars and none in the floor that’s for sure
Nothing under the doors themselves. Or the door panels that’s including the door storage .

I was thinking maybe the pollen filter may be the main culprit as the floor Seems hole free around the pedals and hand brake.
So it has as far as I can see the dash is the area ..
But under the bonnet there are not holes that I can see that do not have rubber plugs in them.

So the thought is a full bonnet cover from the bottom of the screen cover that covers the top bonnet grills to the bottom of the bumper..

I`am shure i saw somewhere there is a vent hole under the cab and you can get a plate from fiat to cover, also the battery box can let a huge draft through.
There has to be a vent in the cab, or the doors wouldn't shut. If the cover is fitted properly, there should be no draught from the battery box, and even then, there will be a mat over it.

The battery is under the bonnet.
The other batteries for the Moho are in the garage thingy.
Yes I agree there has to be a vent somewhere but I don’t know where

There are covers either side under the dash they may have vents under them I guess it is something I will never know.
Unless my son starts looking. Very soon
