The original seat belts we had in our first Cortina, were not retractable. They were uncomfortable, so I went to work (Halfords) and bought inertia reel seat belts by Britax. Made all the difference. Of course, we had cars without belts before that, but our Cortina came with the old style. I am very careful now, driving a classic. But in all other vehicles we have, belt on every time.

I remember being very drunk one night and driving home from my boss's house with my lady. It was hair raising! I never did it again. But then the law was changed and I stopped having more than one drink when out and driving. We bought an Alcosense breathalyser for the motorhome, smaller, but same type of sensor as the police use. Half a bottle of wine and I am still over the limit bin the morning. Three large whiskies, clear at 8am. (maybe before, but I like a layin!

I dont drink or have not for a long time, but 25 odd years back i got stopped after one pint, officer said you are just and no more under the limit, so stopped drinking as driving is my life, not booze.

We more or less stopped about ten years ago, if we have a luncheon with a drink, Liz will have a Coke & I'll have a Guiness shandy.
