Entertainment when driving ?

I listen mainly to rad 2/4, or LBC on my dab (tranny) radio & when I get tired of that I put a cd on & when I'm tired of listening to CD's I listen to my wife:).

I bet you get a back hander when she reads your post :giggle:

Ditto on both counts :(

When I lose the radio signal, I usually turn to CDs because my cab radio doesn't have any auxiliary sockets of any kind. I've got a bluetooth speaker I could use but it's a bit dodgy to mess around trying to find something on my iPad or phone when I'm driving. Lately I've really enjoyed listening to audio books on CD. They're really hard to find these days but I always check out charity shops, just in case.
Go to your local library Jennie they have them to loan out, of course you won’t make a copy and take it back will you :)

I have spells of Radio 2 (I enjoy 'The Big Show') then Radio 4 (anything but The Archers) and also The Eagles, Gerry Rafferty etc, etc.

Colin ???

I have not heard that Phrase for a while

Most people nowadays wont know what one is , they will more than likely think it is a sister of a transvestite :D:sneaky:

It brought back memories for me too, Jeff. The transistor was first demonstrated a year after I was born and as young engineers we built circuits using individual transistors, each one being about the size of the eraser stuck on the end of a pencil with three wires protruding from one end. Yet here I am sitting remotely from any other human or electrical circuit communicating with the rest of the world using a hand held device containing roughly forty thousand million transistors.
And the device can be paid for by the average UK person working for a week.
How technology changes in one lifetime.

Colin ???

Radio, but the signal often shite. So then music saved onto the SatPad. Long journeys always audio books.

Pay for a book a month for £7.99 and often buy the daily deal. Can easily do looong drives with a good book. But drove past all the Druridge Bay W wildcamping signs as the book had just got to a good bit!!!

I think I prefer the journey more than the arriving.

That's probably why we rarely use the radio, but look at, and talk about, what we are seeing around us. I'm constantly looking for photo opportunities that remind us of our travels years later.

Sounds like you are on the same deal as me with Audible :)

I am struggling with built up credits at the moment, I like epic fiction and did the Wheel of Time series, shortest book was over 30 hours and longest getting towards 50 and 16 books in the series. That was fine until I decided to listen to it again back to back :)

We listen to radio 2 unless the signal goes or its all talking. It in the van I can blue tooth the music from my phone and listen to it on shuffle. The aerial in the van is crap.

Always my iPod cos my wife is usually tweeting etc and that interferes with the music. Same for abroad. I prefer one item for one job, phone for talking, iPod for music, to ton for navigation.

Just a tip for folk, if you have the choice (or when replacing items) look for wireless connection rather than Bluetooth. That way if phone calls, texts, messages etc come in while listening it doesn’t affect playback. I can play music on my Sonos speakers anywhere and take calls, can also be playing different music in different rooms but 5hat wouldn’t apply to the van

Hmm Radio 2 most of the time, unless that cretin Vine is on, or the idiotic Felzt, or the nails down the blackboard irritating beyond belief Elaine Paige, that blood curdling laugh or whatever it is supposed to be is actually scary, there are some cracking radio presenters out there so why pay for those three.

And lately that duo Mayo & Whiney, both great on their own, but as a duo, CD goes on, why take a perfectly good drivetime show and screw it up.

Rant over.

For now.

Do you listen to the radio or CD , Mp3 , when driving ?
We visit New Zealand once a year and hire a camper van. Out there they have something called 'Tourist Radio' which is a bluetooth device which uses gps to give you information about the places and POIs you are driving through or past, automatically on your radio, brilliant! Can't believe there isn't anything similar over here. (unless someone knows different?)

Sounds like a crackin idea cobber, Googled it and it's not that common elsewhere.

Or even better Radio Caroline

I was not sure when my wife suggested a talking book for the long journey to Spain .
It was a good murder mystery and made the journey go in half the time .We have had a few since then
on other trips, 3 good and one lasted 20 mins ( rubbish )
Other than that just like scanning the radio for local stations abroad and in the UK
