Ev hook up adaptor

In reality, in terms of load on the cable, there will be not many Motorhomes that will charge a battery at 120A @14.2V DC (this would be the maximum for the Victron Multiplus 3000VA, which is a common higher end unit and which few owners will have bigger).
When you do the maths, this means an AC current of less than 7.5A (or 1750W), so well within the capacity of a regular EHU lead, and using the EHU lead is not a limiting factor like it would be if attempting to charge an actual EV car.

I don't know why having this adapter is a waste of time for an Motorhome? If say someone is going to the shops in their Motorhome and uses an EV charge point for say an hour while they are there, that is a handy charge going into the leisure battery.
I am ignoring the aspect of IF it is acceptable to use the point as that part of the discussion is irrelevant to the maths of what is achieved by using an EV point on a Motorhome.

The Vobor type works just fine, but you’ll be limited to 3kw so no faster that EHU, you’ll be paying 44p kWh at PodPoint and more elsewhere.
But there are also free charge points around the country, some in Supermarkets, some in council car parks and several other places. One advantage with the Vobor is if you park out of the EV bay and plug in, should you wander off and an EV driver turn up they can park in the EV space and unplug your lead, then charge themselves (I’ve done this and when the motorhome driver returned he was fine)
That said from a MH point of view it’s a waste of money and effort unless like me you have an EV charger at home, I use the Vobor to charge the MH on the cheap overnight rate 5p kWh I’ve never used it on the road.

Also be aware that you’ll need charging accounts generally to use public chargers.
I don't have an EV vehicle, but as a matter of interest..... .........

Should a camper park outside of an EV bay, agree to the charges, plugs in, and wanders off., then an EV driver turns up, parks in the EV space and quickly replaces the camper lead with his, how does the system prevent the campervan being charged for the EV costs?

Does disconnection automatically and immediately stop the costs of the original vehicle, regardless of how quickly the transfer occurs?

As soon as the vehicle disconnects then the charge stops.

In most cases when you plug the EV in the charger recognises the vehicle automatically anyway as EV drivers use accounts/subscriptions rather than pay by card.

POD point will be the obvious for charging the MH for 2 reasons.
1. They are too slow for an EV. 7kWh that’s slower than my home charger. To charge there would take 6hours plus 20-80%
2. Their expensive.

Therefore EV drivers don’t use them much.

If my cars on a podpoint charger it’s because the car park was busy and podpoint was empty. It’s great at my local Hospital as the parking a nightmare, but podpoint is always available.

From the MH point of view podpoint are also very often in places where they can be easily accessed.

Thank you for your kind reply. That's really clear.

The (other) reason I ask is because my local train station charges the correct fee for parking, and then quietly slaps a second £11 charge as an additional cost. About three days later that additional £11 charge is silently refunded.

I rang the Town Hall and asked if I was dreaming, and they told me that I was correct and it's exactly what they always do 😳 and I dissolved in laughter.

A friend has told me that he's been charged £0.00 in a German hotel, as some kind of safeguard should the guest default.

Thanks to internet banking, I'm taking so much more interest in all kinds of instantaneous charging, and how things work.

That thing with the second £11 charge is weird. Not heard that.
Nearest thing come across is the card fuel pumps with the £99 maximum charge and when you put the card in it immediately takes £99 from the account and then either refunds the £99 and charges what is spent, or deducts the difference of the two (not sure which one or if that depends on the garage?) .

So what changes to our motorhome do we need to do to charge from ev point.
You probably want a decent size mains charger (as EV point = Mains as far as charging is concerned). The default charger fitted to a Motorhome are low capacity and you would be parked up by a charging point for possibly a long long time.
And by the same logic, you probably want Lithium batteries rather than Lead if you want to fully charge. A Lithium battery will charge at full rate until 99% full. A Lead battery starts to charge slower and slower as it gets to the last say 20%.
So I would say without Lithium Batteries and a fast aftermarket main charger, not worth it.

It’s worth pointing out that some supermarkets allow you to book overnight parking via apps such as just park. You can then plug into their EV charger overnight.

I’ve never seen this done, but can’t see why not.

This specific car park in Tunbridge Wells is multi storey and always rammed. The sceptic in me wonders how much interest on the constant flow of short term £11 through the Town Hall coffers create, and that only Internet Banking now makes more transparent?

Thanks wildebus we have fogstar 460 ah
And added a 30amp lithium mains battery charger .
Factory fitted charge is still connected.
