Recently my van has been having problems with the ‘Lock’ symbol on the dash and not starting due to the immobiliser kicking in? Any suggestions so that we don’t have an expensive trip to a Fiat dealer!

Do you have an image of the fob.
And what make the alarm is .

If it is a toad alam it’s an easy fix if you have the alarm box code number

I had the same problem for a year or so, it would stop the van from starting about once a month only started after multiple attempts. Dealers goto garage had no idea changed cab battery as well as fob battery but made no difference. In the end I took the cover off the steering column unplugged and plugged the connection on the immobiliser areal and plugged it back in, (the disc that goes around the ignition barrel), and not had a problem in four years.

Thanks Sonar, key fobs are standard ones - one plain and one with the 3 buttons (cab door/lock/hab door). Not sure if ‘road’ alarm?

You may be better getting a mobile alam person to call and see ..

But Sod’s Law says when they get there it works perfectly fine.

Give the immobiliser antenna a wiggle up the ignition barrel towards the key, i packed mine out with a bit of blue tack then never had a problem

My yellow bus has been playing up with the same issue, thanks for the suggestions which I have passed on to our transport chap.
