Our council is including spending to update a local parking area/public toilets by incorporating a motorhome waste water disposal point 😲. This is in line with the generally welcoming approach to motorhomes on Orkney. However, it is dependent on support from the Scottish government.

Tenuous political dig that is also flawed. Westminster Government has to provide consent to a second referendum, and that has been refused, so possibly best to leave the Post referring to the M/Home facilities and see if the Scottish Tourism budget and any other [tenuously] linked budgets can be used to provide the necessary funds

Fair comment, this isn't the place for political comment👍 Post edited accordingly.

Can't understand why all Councils don't get a grip on this Aire move, the revenue generated would be enormous , it just needs good Management skills to run them after all you look around to see all the area's vacant at night that can be utilised.

"it just needs good Management skills to run them"

There's your problem

Shouldn't we all as Motorhome Owners be putting proposals to our own and various Councils up & down the Country to give them a large KICK up the backside to try & get this up & running.
Chris.

Naive in the extreme. There's the small issue of the budget to fund the works, and imagine the council taxpayers' reaction to the funding of an Aire with facilities whilst local services have been reduced/closed [including public toilets whose drains would be the first site to use for sewage/drainage], home care services, libraries etc

In the last 24 hours there has been a report issued confirming a regular increase in the number of Local Authorities who are either in, or about to enter, effective insolvency by issuing Section 114 Notices which give 21 days breathing space to identify budgets to meet their statutory service delivery obligations

The point I was trying to make was there is plenty of Council owned land to accommodate stop overs & both parties are winners, doesn't mean a fully Blown Aire but surely People would be willing to pay a fee to the Council to stop over , could allways put Porta loos in if required........Sorry for coming accross as....Naive ........some people.
