Our dog Roxy has been under the bedroom drawers every night for the past 2 weeks trembling with fear, as we have had constant fireworks, it's about time that they got banned, or just had them for one night like we used to have
I'm not taking sides, but when we moved to Sussex we didn't know that many large towns have their own individual Bonfire Society, holding costumed torchlit processions that completely dwarf Lerwick's "Up helly aa". They are held each weekend from September to November, culminating in large charity supporting firework displays, where enormous effigies of unpopular celebrities are burned.
They mark both Guy Fawkes Night and the burning of 17 martyrs in the 16thC. Lewes has become so large and popular that the trains no longer stop at the station that night for safety reasons. Their charity event sometimes appears on national TV news.
It could be argued that since fireworks actually were established before keeping pets became common it’s the pets that should be banned if the object is to prevent animal suffering.

Bill if the fireworks were only to last a couple of nights, then that would be great, we could go out of the way and have a short break, but they have been going on here every night from 17.00pm to well after 23.00pm, it is getting worse every year, I even know of a couple who dog bolted on the 2nd November and they have not seen or heard about it since that day. I think it is time to nip it in the bud before we end up having 12 months of fireworks every night

Luna has been the same Jeff. As you say if it was one or two nights then OK but it's been over a fortnight now and some of them sound like bombs exploding!! It's not just dogs that are affected. Livestock, wild animals and birds are also frightened.....notbto mention human beings!!!
