Fireworks & pets

For a supposed gun dog, Oscar is also terrified. Corrie I think won’t be much better as she stays close to me when the Army are firing on the ranges. Bought a homeopath calming potion to give a try.

I think a lot of people prefer to go to organised events. Safety as well as cost.
 
We have just come from walking Roxy around Hollingworth lake Littlebourough, lots of people where walking there dogs while walking back on our selves there was banging in the distance, don't know whether it was fireworks or shooting Roxy started to bolt, we had to put her on the lead, she was dragging the full length of the lead with her tail between her legs back to the car, lots of the other dogs didn't seem to take much notice
 
Our last dog always wanted to go out and watch them as soon as he heard fireworks, and none of the Horses are bothered about them, but I just open all the fields up so they can runaround without any harm should the feel the need to bolt
 
Here we go again Roxy is walking round and round there's no settling her, it started about 15 mins ago she is shaking under a chair at this moment she seems go in a trance and it makes u think she is going to keel up and die, We live in a semi and I can hear Alfie the Jack Russell constantly barking in the attached house
 
Our other dog used to hate fireworks and we had a fair few going off in the street a few years ago it was truly awful to see I think if she could squeeze into a mouse hole she would she would also have her tail between her legs and shake,I’ve had the pup out and she’s not bothered about them,which I’m so pleased
 
Bracken is petrified of fireworks as is a friends dog, between us we have rented a cottage at Troutbeck, quite isolated and very quiet.
Worth every penny, it is very distressing watching your much loved pet demented with fear.

I will definitely looking into that for next time, but we have it to come in the New year it seems to be a regular thing for all celebration

That's great perhaps if you don't show the fireworks any attention your puppy will grow up taking them in her stride

She had to go out earlier in the garden and there was some fireworks going off around and I thought she would run up onto the step so I picked her up,and I must say if anyone passed and saw me they would have thought I’d lost the plot both of us were watching the fireworks going off! I’m so pleased they didn’t bother her, goodness knows what she’ll be like next year!
 
It was terrible last night again with fireworks going off,probably worse than saturday night.Fortunately Alfie took it all in his stride,it's his first year of fireworks and hopefully he will stay like that.
What really upset the dog was 5 police officers arresting a man with a knife,they had him cuffed and face down in the road.Alfie didn't like all the shouting and barked at them-just another normal day in Mansfield.:eek:
 
Fireworks are booming here just now ,adaptil is what she has been given 30 mins ago and is taking effect by the looks,
She is curled into my feet

The fireworks are here and they sound like they are in our garden Roxy has disappeared and we can't find her
 
Amazingly it's quiet tonight. Himself is curled up on a cushion getting some zzzzzzz.

Maybe try that Adaptil that Gordon mentioned for Roxy.

I will definitely think about it next time i will see how she is coming up to it
 
It was pretty noisy here tonight but I’m pleased to say that Misty wasn’t bothered by the fireworks and once again she stood looking at them Through the gate!
 
My personal opinion is that fireworks should be controlled. I think organised displays at New Year and November 5th are the way forward. I am against displays on the Saturday and Sunday before and after November 5th. Having displays that are all between 6pm - 8pm on November 5th and at midnight on New Year's Eve.
 
Dread this time of year (and New Year too) I intend to 'get away' this time next year as my 7yr old pup hates fireworks!
Living nr Chester, it gets like Beirut around here a couple of days before and sometimes after Nov 5th, The horizon looks just like the scene in SPR when they are resting in the Church overnight! And now the Police alert email shows an increase in malicious use of 'fireworks' ie damage to property and vehicles.....
(but at least I don't live in Sweden!)

That would be brilliant Phil but a nightmare to enforce.
 
They are still going off tonight
