Fireworks?

Recently in Wales a couple of young boys had a firework thrown at them, They picked it up and it went off causing horrendous injuries.

It has re-opened the debate on whether fireworks should be banned from general sale to the public and perhaps only allowed at organised, licenced displays.

I'd be interested to hear what your views are on this?

Bloody Chinese stealth terrorism innit, if our curry doesn't get you we'll blow you up.

Never seen the point. When we were kids, there were no large, organised displays. But now, for £25 for a family of four, we can get into our local Scouts display and watch £10,000 worth of fireworks being set off. And here we are, everyone supposedly having trouble paying the bills, but in October, setting of many pounds worth of fireworks! Almost every night for the last week.

Out of shops, organised displays only.

I agree, but I'm wondering what would happen if we stopped it altogether, would we get really high prices for displays as they know they are the only place to see them, it's simple chemistry so will we see people making their own and having even more serious injuries?

The Darwin effect will sort those who make their own explosives! As for pricing, I don't think it would put up prices. Most fireworks can be seen from outside a venue, we can see the Scouts display from our house, although those less than ten feet of the ground are just a glow. And I wonder if those who think of making their own, think about the Anti-Terrorism laws? But just think how much better it would be not to be woken up or have to put up with constant noise on some nights.

Sadly I think you're right, and again for watching from outside we live high up so don't even need to go outside, just turn the TV and lights off, we have been known to wrap up and go sit outside with a mug of Cocoa if it's a nice night.

Tv and lights, rich g-t.

Has'ta no got telly then lad.

Ban the sale of all fireworks to the Public. Licensed venues only to be able to purchase fireworks for public display. Severe penalties for possessing/setting off fireworks outside licensed venues.

Do other countries have this knob/firework obsession?
