Hi all
I have previously owned a Nissan Elgrand campervan but now looking to get a motorhome
I have my eye on a 2008 Elddis sunseeker 100 2,2 HDi 330
it is as far as my budget will stretch ! is this too old in your opinion and am I likely to get reasonably trouble free motorhoming ?

thanks for any advice

There is no real anser to your question.
All motorhomes are money pits ,new and old.
Good service history is a must and hab services get your self a damp meter and go all over the van.

As prev stated age does not really enter on some vehicles but pkease get expert advice to check over (older veh) saves a lot of heartaches
cond, service history, int cond are all part as well as DAMP TESTS ETC
timing belt .pulleys and water pump have these been done?

I have had eldis caravans over the years, mainly used for storage, im breaking one as i type, build quality is cr-p, not sure about the vans.

Repairs can be expensive i was talking to
an a class owner 6 k for damp Repairs, check mot history ,leave a good wedge for in your pocket for contingency fund ..some dealers have bad reputation they don't want to. Once they have your cSh

What bugs me is why crappy wood used in caravans and campers, in the last 20/30 years there are many composit materials out there which are water proof and strong, mybe they want them to fall to bits so we will buy again.

Check Mot history, online and the previous owners .
Mileage, .. Should be about 60k.
Much lower than that is suspicious, it might have been laid up for a time, or off the road, pending repairs.

If there have been frequent changes , this could indicate that it's a lemon and been moved on.
So many novices bought crappy vans, during and after Covid and misused them.
I'm a miserable old sod, but 20 years long terming, makes me that careful.
We always bought new, and sold them after 5 years, 50k miles,
The van cabs and chassis are built for a 7 year working life. I understand.

Is it to do with keeping the weight down ?, I ave noticed the older M/Homes interior cupboards do look more sturdier & well made compared to our 2020 Eldiss .

Value Engineering, @Burge .
I was doing that 50 years ago.
You had to make savings to justify your wages.

Looked one up to see, this one I feel is quite overpriced for year and age, and is quite old-fashioned too for an 08, as already said buyer beware get a proper check done and believe half of what you are told without proof, and get a test drive too, drive = no buy.

We've had two from Elddis and as Trev says build quality isn't great, but some do like them.
