My van has a Cramer control unit which isn't a "smart" charger, so I would like to fit my own charger. On the Cramer I can see the 240v in cable so my thoughts are I could just disconnect this and therefore the Cramer charger part wouldn't work and then simply wire a smart charger to the disconnected mains cable and use a split charge relay to charge the leisure and engine batteries. Or is there a better way to do this? Am I right in thinking that the the 240v in cable serves no purpose other than to feed the battery charger built into the Cramer unit?
