Fuel in France

Certainly strange, possible due to MFG to encourage customers into pay station, to then purchase other goods?
 
We are on night 6 of our France travels. We have been travelling slow, so still only 100km from Dunkirk. The longest drive so far has been from home in Camberley to Dover. Not had any need to refuel and still on 3/4 of a tank. We should have been in Lille but now parked outside a MH dealer in Seclin hoping that they can fix our fridge in the the morning.

We're in the south, at Remoulins near Avignon. When we arrived a couple of days ago there was nothing under €2.21. Today the local Total is at €2.07,and up the road at Uzès it's €2. 01.
 
As we come North, prices do appear to be coming down.
Just paid €2.18 in Intermarche at Barbezieux St Hilaire
 
We've moved on from the Camargue (fed up with being Plat du Jour for the mosquitoes), now near Beziers where Total diesel is €2.09.

I believe that Total's price is due to fluctuate, going up at the start of this week, but down again from Thursday until Sunday. It said on the TV news that they're offering a discount for the May public holiday weekends.

That would explain the fluctuations. Also, the Total I mentioned in Béziers is now sold out of diesel! The cheapest within 15k of there now is €2.07
