Thanks for sorting out the ferry discount Phil. I see that a few people have booked the ferry with the discount code, where do I get the code from?

Just thinking about arrival and departure. People that have been before, do you arrive or leave a few days either side of the dates. I can see there are lots of overnights stops on Orkney, is there enough there to keep you occupied for the full week?
Do many of you travel on to Shetland,? Just looking for suggestions as this maybe our first and last chance to go to the Islands.
For us it's a very long way from Cornwall!!

We will be arriving 2 days early and wilding, but then leaving on the last day,

there is plenty to keep you occupied though i’m sure you’ll cover plenty on days out from the site st margerats hope was a beautiful bay we camped on the beach for a couple of days before our last meet when we left we went up to the brought of birsay and saw dozens of puffins the italian chapel is unmissable plus many more

@mikewroe We looked at ferries to Shetland and decided against taking the van. We're looking at flights from Kirkwall to Sumburgh to get a few days to explore Shetland

Many thanks Phil for securing this discount again......going for three weeks this year....4th to the 25th....maybe see more than the inside of bars!!!

Last time we went we went a week before and stayed a week after I think ? Might have been longer ?
We found plenty to do !
Puffin spotting at Birsay
Italian chapel
Lots of beaches and quite a few overnight park ups available which hopefully hasn’t changed as we are planning similar this time 🤞
We didn’t fit everything in but I suppose you could fit everything in if you didn’t sit still and relax for a week 🤔

Fergie1061 & I are making this an extended trip both before and after this meet.
We intend to be taking a very leisurely trip over to the Moray coast before heading up to Scrabster.
We also have decided to extend our trip with a visit to Shetland then back to Orkney for a couple of days.
We then plan heading off around the NC500 and over to Skye before working our way back home.
Sounds like we have both June & July covered.
Can't wait !!

Does anyone bring young children to rallies or gatherings?

Don’t see any reason why not, Stephen 🤷‍♀️

Are you wanting to bring your grandchild/children along to introduce them to wonderful Orkney?! 😃 😉👍👌

Go for it! 🙂

Excuse tardy reply, I don’t use this site as often as t’other one 😄

There is a golf club a few minutes walk away. It has a good bar and members was welcome to use it in the past. I was happy to spend a day or two in there. I am sure if you got bored you could stretch it to a week or two.

Not a tardy reply Marie.
All my children know Orkney very well, we have been many times before and have stayed on different farms at Birsay.
If my new child arrives on time I will bring her along.
