I used to shot blast prim and paint big garden household gas cylinders for Seroco works Belfast, they told me blasting de-stressed the welds, they x-rayed all their welding.

Surprisingly they powder coat, Calor hardly puts any paint on theirs.

We epoxy primed and finished in a whitish 2 pack polyurethane to their spec, blinken big bruts they were to turn and lift in and out the blast cabinet.
