have just purchased a kaper off on of the members on W/C it is currently in the W/c delivery system ( thanks to Tezza33 and Minisorella ) and I am hoping it gets to Henley , but will probably only be using it in emergency when we are on our own

I have an Honda 10i it was a must have thing about 15 years ago and I have run it for about 20 hours in total, a total waste of money really but I just keep it in my garage for what I do not know, genies are noisy smelly and heavy , and mine with only 1000 watts output is only really any good for topping up batteries, I have Solar panels now and extra batteries and am often off grid for months at a time with no electrical problems, I was always embarrassed on the few times I actually used it due to the annoying purr it made, I hate being close to someone using a genie and try to avoid them , it is utter misery at Motorhome shows with genies running and sounding like a fairground,:Hear_No_Evil_Monkey

I've got one free to a good home it's just a noisy 2 stroke thing that's in the way.

Annie, love of my life, if nobody else has grabbed it, can you bring it to the Navigation Christmas meet please. I know that I gave mine to Andrew, but recently a couple of situations have popped up where a genny would have been useful. (it's always the way)

I can't see the need for one and if having one it should be used far enough away so as not to need any ones agreement to run it as if far enough away no one could hear it. Some people only have a genny so their wife can dry her hair.

Can’t bring it to the Navigation as I’m already out on the road but will make arrangements to get it to you.

Annie, I'll go and pick up if that's an option?

I would not object to a Jenny being run at a sensible time ,some have to be run for medical reasons or to top up batterys for blown heating .if used with consideration ok.

Thanks Annie, I'll not be in the 'van, we are just driving over by car for the bunfight. Peter

I have no problem with generators or other noise, it would be better if only in the day but hey ho it’s camping , we can move our four wheels if it’s that bad. When I lived in a house I had to put up with it :(

Yes Yes Yes - however when on meets etc a time restriction is reasonable even if it’s only a couple of hours a day, after all we are meant to be a Wild Camping group.

Me too,we were once pitched next to a tugger at a big show who was running a genny all day and into the night. It must have been an old or cheap one because the noise and exhaust fumes were pretty bad.I decided to ask him to switch it off and give us all a break. He replied that his leisure battery had packed up so he had to run the genny 24/7.I did suggest that he bought a new leisure battery at the show,I'm pleased to say that he did just that.

Used consideratly and with thought for others and only if genuinely needed.

You could always use a eco model, may take a week to get a amp or so though.

The problems start when the mouse escapes, just ask Phil :Tears_of_Joy_Emoji:

I’ve seen the vans at meets jostling for prime locations so that there solar panels face south I think that’s anti social ?what if there’s not enough room for all vans to face south and you end up under a tree and you have a nice wee Honda

I have been parked among those anti social vans with the solar panels, the silence is deafening, I have had to move because the clicking sound as they throw switches to check how much power they had going in was unbearable:Very_Angry_Emoji:

To be quite honest, some of the comments have made it pretty clear that generators are felt to be most unsociable, probably due to an experience given by a selfish geny owners, a real shame as many geny owners are very considerate and care not to annoy neighbours.
It does make a geny owning person very apprehensive and think twice and maybe three times about attending winter meets, where a little extra battery charge may be required.
Tolerance is a two way street, is it not:Flushed_Face_Emoji:

It is indeed a 2 way street I agree, problem is it's the minority that ruin it for the rest as usual.
If used consideratly then I don't have a problem at all with generators.
It is annoying when a genny is running for hours and there's no way of knowing how long it will be on.

We parked at the Newbury Show this year and one genny owner put his genny on and then went for a walk round the show. After a couple of hours a "big" bloke wander over and turned it off with a hammer I could not stop laughing for a week. :Tears_of_Joy_Emoji::Tears_of_Joy_Emoji::Tears_of_Joy_Emoji:
