I bought a used MH a few weeks ago and found a pair of grubby rubber gloves stuffed in the toilet cassette compartment. The previous owner had been thoughtful enough to leave them for me. They looked like they'd been in contact with more s**te than a medieval gong farmer. I picked them up with a pair of long nosed pliers and dumped them in the bin. Then cleaned the pliers! Thankfully the cassette itself was spotlessly clean.

No gloves, just was hands after.

Many years ago I spent two very happy years underneath London, surveying Bazalgette's Main Drainage Interceptor System. I slipped over twice .......... ........ and my safety team wouldn't come near me. After that, nothing fazes me.

at Glastonbury festival , the toilets dropped into a hole . when a guy fell in it, and was standing up to his waist in it, nobody seemed willing to help . i heard he was there for a while

Gordon are you sure the gloves are to protect your hand from germs or is it just you don't want to keep them soft ready for when you wash up using your Fairy Liquid.

Actually I dont know why I am laughing at that as I like washing up in the van ha ha

My opinion is if you use the same gloves your hands need washing so what's the point.
Therefore I'm in the no glove camp.

I would rather wear gloves when filling with diesel than when emptying the toilet cassette, I know exactly where the contents came rom and wash my hand afterwards. No problems so far. I do always make sure I clean fresh water taps before I fill up though.

I havn't succumbed yet to any lurgy, so it's a no from me, though as I don't usually empty, it's a no from him too,

Soap and water or Hand gel.

Yes I do wear gloves although as most have said not really necessary but even with latex gloves I always wash my hands after, If I ran out of gloves I would still empty the toilet and not be worried about it, it’s just what I feel comfortable with.
Best Wishes Tony

Gloves are for keeping my hands warm in winter.

Are folk really so clumsy when they empty their loo that they get their hands dirty?

Quick dob of sanitising hand gel - in case the dirty folk before me touching the tap, door handle etc with their dirty gloves have left their germs behind.

I occasionally see people handling their cassette with a variety of gloves, from surgical to gardening, as though they were
transporting some form of nuclear waste. What are they doing wrong that necessitates this behaviour, which our continental
friends seem to be able to avoid. If you have an accident, wash your hands.

What would you do with the gloves after if you did wear them anyway, contaminate the area where you keep them? Bear paws, and a couple of wet wipes hanging out of my pocket is all I need.

If Thetford made a decent product it wouldn't need so much PPE.

I think a mask with a particle filter would be of more use.

Easier to wash hands, and more hygienic than carrying dirty gloves with you.
Disposable are okay if you really want to use gloves
