Guess what

Could be a tine from a farming implemunt or maybe railway it has a few marks on ti and a good wire brushing might give more of a clue.

It's a finger from an agricultural grass mowing machine. Circa 1940 to 1960. The knife was a series of pointed blades around 6 feet in length. It rode back and forth from a cam mechanism supported on a series of around about 20 of those finger guides. Albion were one of the main manufacturers.

It is a finger from either a combine or finger bar mower. As the Undertaker said, the knife goes back and forth in it to cut the corn or grass. Liken to a pair of scissors, it forms one half of the cutting blade, the moving knife is the other half. They are still in use today, there are about 3 of them to the foot, so a 20 foot cut combine would have about 60 of them on its cutterbar.
