Has anyone used a handbrake extension lever and if so what are they like to use. Our motorhome is on a boxer chassis. Thank you
LololololBe alrighty for lardy cus he has nae fixed his swivel seat yet![]()
Thank you for the reply. this is in the info on it, not quite sure how it works. The movement of the lever on the handbrake's release button effectively makes the handbrake act as the type known in the vintage motoring era as a ‘Fly-Off’ handbrake. Because of this quick release nature, the driver should always play doubly safe by leaving the vehicle in gear. This is something recommended by all experienced motorhome users whatever the method of handbrake actuation. The Rare Spares "breakaway" extension is good AND allows the seats to swivel just as before![]()
There was a thread about this topic on the Wildcamping forum. Rather than repost what I posted there, click the link at the bottom for a bit of a read on the extension I am talking about.Thank you for the reply. this is in the info on it, not quite sure how it works. Yes .Ive had one for years wouldn't be without one .Has anyone used a handbrake extension lever and if so what are they like to use. Our motorhome is on a boxer chassis. Thank you
If you get one you'll never look back .They are what every should have .I just looked at that and bookmarked it. I have managed to put my back out on our recent trip and putting the handbrake on has been painful so I may need one after I've had a chiropractors prognosis!
The ability to swivel might well depend on the swivel mechanism. There is no one will/will not answer. It is very common for a standard handbrake to stop a seat swivelling unless the brake lever is dropped. (Sprinters are notorious for that).I’ve used the Kobran extender for 12 years, I also have a swivel seat and it works just fine.
I have always been a bit puzzled with my Sprinter handbrake, below is a line from the MB build card for my van, says it’s folding but only fold I see is when you let it off as any normal handbrake doesThe ability to swivel might well depend on the swivel mechanism. I can't remember the details but there is a specific handbrake on the Sprinters for swivel seats - and that often doesn't fit properly IIRCI have always been a bit puzzled with my Sprinter handbrake, below is a line from the MB build card for my van, says it’s folding but only fold I see is when you let it off as any normal handbrake does
BE2 Handbrake lever, folding
Mine has the folding hand brake, visually it looks exactly the same but what it does once you have put the handbrake on without pushing the release button you just push the hand brake lever down, which then allows the seat to swivel.I have always been a bit puzzled with my Sprinter handbrake, below is a line from the MB build card for my van, says it’s folding but only fold I see is when you let it off as any normal handbrake does
