Hi all has any one purchased the new V16 mandatory beacon light for breakdown in Spain yet if so where did you get it from ,I ordered and paid for one from ZORRO ?? I paid for it and got conformation of order but next day they cancelled the order saying the light was not available

Not bought one, it is only mandatory (with inbuilt radio distress signal) for Spanish citizens and residents.
Visitors simply continue to use warning triangles to obey the law.

And if I remember correctly, it will only function to its intended capability for Spanish citizens and residents because only they are able to register it.

Well that is what I thought but using META AI I have learned that from January 1st 2026 it is mandatory for all vehicles to have this beacon largecfinescoifcyou are without it says trianglescwe use are no longer allowed or legal from this date

This from the N332 website, which is the police approved channel of information for visitors and residents.

My AI source (all of which I take with caution) states a similar result.

I got one from Amazon WITHOUT a SIM aas it just seems a good idea, it was £12 at the time. If I was stranded due to breakdown I'd still use the Triangle too but who wouldnt want maximum visibility!.

Apparently in Spain you are also supposed to carry a translation of your driving licence...has anyone ever been prosecuted for not? It is one of the reasons I keep an International Driving Licence in the van though

Mark you can use google translate. Take a picture of your drivers licence. You can translate to any language

You're right of course Pat, it is only one of the reasons I carry an in date IDP, I like to have one just in case I decide to cross over to Morocco as it is a legal requirement there...and it's only a fiver!
