We have a fiat ducato mk 2. 2003. The headlights are not that good in fact there only slightly better than candles.

Has any member changed theirs for new brighter bulbs .

If so details would be great How have they performed. Where from and type .
Please
 
I have no idea how good mine are, never driven it in the dark.

Have you examined the plastic lenses? They cloud up and 'yellow' over time. There is plenty info on youtube of various methods to sort them out.

The lens have been cleaned and there very clear did that this year.
Been told you can change the bulbs for something but can not remember what ..
 
I believe there is some sort of law or regulation about not doing this sort of thing.
 
I think they are Xenon bulbs not sure if there two or three prong bulbs.
I will have to wait till I get back up the northeast then I will have a look. But was hoping someone has changed there’s .

As for some sort of regulations I am unsure .

    • Original Equipment (OE) LED Bulbs: These come installed by the manufacturer and are completely legal.
    • Retrofit LED Bulbs: Replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs is generally not allowed. They might cause glare and disrupt the beam pattern, making them unsafe for others on the road.
  • MOT Test:
    • The MOT test checks if your headlights meet specific regulations.
    • Since 2021, using halogen headlights with aftermarket LED or HID bulbs is an automatic fail.

Class 3,4,5 and 7 vehicles​

For class 3,4,5 and 7 vehicles, the defect ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’ only applies to vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986.

Should a vehicle be presented for an MOT test with conversions before 1 April 1986 they must not be failed with immediate effect.

Vehicles presented with converted halogen headlamp units first used on or after 1 April 1986 will continue to be failed.

Headlamps must comply with all other requirements of the test and headlamp aim.

The cars and passenger vehicles inspection manual will be updated shortly.

I guess there’s the answer. But will check with our local mot inspector in case things have changed .
 
If h4 single bulb you can if the relay will handle it fit 90/130 or 75/90 units, these are illegal but are good, if h7 and normley 2 in hadlamp then you can change to pure white led unit, dont buy led h4 because they do not dip properly.h7 bulbs.jpg

I fitted H4 LED bulbs in my car four or five years ago, the ones I bought can be turned in the holder so that you can get a good dipped beam, it has passed the MOT without problems with them fitted.
My Volvo has H7 and H9 bulbs but when I fitted LED's I kept getting fault codes, there is a way around this but I fitted Xenon-HID replacements instead, It is not cheap though
