I have now purchased a Victron mppt 75-15 smart solar controller as advised on this forum together with suitable cable fuses ect.
.
I unscrewed the Sargent 328 from the wall, removed the solar panel cable from the 328. I then looked at the Sargent display panel, scrolled through the menus and noticed that the panel was showing 2.2 amps input.
.
As I don’t want to cause damage I plugged the solar cable back into the 328.
.
I cannot understand why the panel was showing 2.2 amp with the cable to solar panel removed from the 328.
.
From the advice I have had on here, correct me if I am wrong
.
Fit Victron in place, install fused battery to controller cable to Victron, install solar to controller cable to Victron.
.
Is it safe to fit the upgraded Victron even though the Sargent visual screen is showing 2.2 amp, Help please. Thanks.
.

So they are churning out MHs that show you are getting 2.2A more from your solar than you actually are. I suppose as components wear the resistance of some parts changes and so does their displayed voltage.
