[CANCELLED]

Unfortunately, I have had to make the decision to cancel this rally. The team at the Rowing Club told me that the parking areas we need will not be usable even on Saturday. Without all the parking areas we would not be able to park all the vans, and we cannot park any longer vans.

Jeff told me they could take more people at the Hollingworth Lake rally. If you would like to attend that rally instead, please have a look at the thread below:

I will be staying at Hereford in case people do not get the message, and we can accommodate some vans for camping only at the rowing club from Saturday. There will be no food or entertainment as this will not be a rally. As I said, the area for parking larger vans will not be usable, so we won't be able to park vans over 8m.

I am sorry to give you bad news. This is out of my control.

Phil

Hard decision Phil but I’m sure the people on here will support you 100% !
Nobody wants flood damage to their prized possession ,
Good call in my opinion

to be honest here in Shrewsbury is has been pouring torrentially all day and we are pretty similar to Hereford with the river in town etc so I’m not surprised….thanks for keeping on at it Phil and doing your best….

Of course disappointed but gotta be the correct decision.
Thanks for all your work Phil and keeping us informed.
Thankyou to the rowing club and the rally stewards for all the preparation work that must have been done in the run up.

Finally Happy New Year to all on Wild Camping and Motorhomer and hope to see you soon.

Paul and Helen.

It certainly is a shame, a great deal of time and effort is put in by various members to put these meets together, then to be dashed due to our weather!

Ultimately, the safety of those down for attending is paramount. There is always 2025 to plan for!

Thanks for keeping us informed, Phil; so sorry after all the work you and others put in to the arrangements, also feel for the Rowing Club and the income they will lose out on but it can't be helped, no-ones fault - Act of God as the insurers say.

What a shame but you made the correct decision.
No one can predict the weather but Paul (the Hereford steward) knows the river and if he said it wasn't viable then that's the final word.
I hope everyone involved isn't to disappointed and finds their own way to welcome in 2024.
On that note happy new year to everyone and I look forward to seeing you all in a field somewhere.

Well said Lee.

Just a thought for those who might be near Stratford on Avon. If you can find a wilding spot I discovered today that one of the pubs/hotel in Wellesbourne has live singer on Sunday and is not closing until 1am. If you are interested ask Greengrass and Rhona about the layby they stayed in last year in the village

The Rowing club is going to flood again on New Year’s day so we can no longer meet at the rowing club. We are all currently at the Leisure Pools car park if anyone wants to join us.
