Looking to switch our energy supplier this month after Shell Energy have upped our bill by £35 a month any recommendations on suppliers on the comparisons sites octopus comes out pretty good so does the green energy company but are they any good in reality.

I've just changed from EDF energy to Bulb and saved almost £20 per month.

Sorry to hear you say you are moving away from Shell, I have just changed to them, as for me they came out as the best, (with no charge to leave), funny as my previous supplies has been chasing me to come back, apparently they can now give me a better deal. I do like that Shell say they are 100% Green or words to that effect.

I was with a supplier which then went bankrupt (the companies that offer the too-good-to-be-true end up running at a loss and folding) and I was switched automatically by Ofgen to the best value supplier (that is part of Ofgens role) - that supplier was Octopus.
I checked to see how they compared and found none better in value so stayed with Octopus.
Had no reason to call them or contact them. Get an email with info regularly. Seems pretty professional and the Electric keeps flowing in.

There is nothing wrong with Shell it’s just that our bill went up by £35 which is quite a monthly hike.

We’ve used Avro Energy for a couple of years now, came out as our best switch on Martin Lewis and still the cheapest tariff for our dual fuel account. Never had any issues with them.

Just add that we discounted some of the newer suppliers that had little or no customer feedback even though they were slightly cheaper ........

Uswitch pointed me to SSE which was a surprise... Small saving over previous Green Network Energy who were slightly increasing their tariff on renewal.

I was with SSE, then switched to Shell, SSE say they can now probably beat the deal that I am on, why couldn't they beat it before. I think it's all a fix as it always seems to go up after a short while when changing supplier, but at least I'm not tied up for 18months, so will look again and see if it's worth moving again.

If you change to Bulb...I really like their service btw! Ask one of your friends on here who is with them , to recommend you...both get £50 off their account.

Bulb here, cannot fault them and our payments are lower than with British Gas.
