We are always wiping the floor in the van esp at the entrance due to muttley, was thinking on putting a carpet down for this winter but after the frog meeting even though it’s not muddy I still brought in with me .Now trained as I am I removed shoes at door most of the time ,was on my own ,but after two days I was amazed at how much grit /dirt I dragged in,used a nylon broom thing the better half has and thought if it was carpet it would ve been worse
What and how do you deal with this question ?

Foam tiles and removable absorbent runners which can easily be washed, also added recently a small mat which is like spray suppression flap at the door, this helps to take some of the bigger stones etc from your trainers.

Summer or winter, I always have a couple of rubber-backed 'welcome' mats near the door to catch the grass or mud and to give me a safe place to stand to take shoes off. The rest of the floor - be that the vinyl, rugs or full carpet, depending on season - doesn't get too messy that way. Those absorbant doormats that they sell for muddy dog paws also work well in the van... doggie not required ;)

In my last van was a fitted carpet that I couldn't remove without taking out all the fittings. We learned, just as you say, to take off all our shoes at the door, then vacuum and brush only when dry. When I traded it in the dealer couldn't believe how clean the carpet was after all those years use.

Old habits die hard, and being aware of carpet problems, I rolled up the new vans carpet and put it in the loft. Now I simply brush the floor out of the end doors. Simple. After use now, occasionally use a wet cloth.

Take shoes boots off before getting in van . put slippers on or crocks for inside use.
We have turtle rugs just in side. when wet we put a towel down .
Wipe dogs feet with dog towel if wet

I had a full copy kit made in Kidderminster and put the factory originals in the loft, lovely fit and I just put the dyson round every day or two.

I have a woman who brushes the floor each Sunday when we are away. To be fair she also does the cooking and supplementary navigating. Unless there is a lot of sand or grit, we don’t get too worried about the van. I give it a thorough clean from top to toe when we get home. What else would a retired man do ?

buy a cheap length of off cut from carpet shop..............it can then be brushed or shaken outside.........and disposed ot to garden to keep weeds down etc.....when is had its day..............sorted
did this when camping in a tent also.......

We had a heavy duty carpet fitted in our van and just go over it with the vac every other day , not a prob ;)

We have vinyl/cushion floor whatever it is and three rubber back/non slip mats. We have a brush and a spray mop in the garage so soon cleaned. The first insid3 step has a coconut mat recessed in as well

Well your'e nearly there, its just the last bit that you need to clear up---------------------A retired man is just that, it is ok to adopt a supervisory position, but to do wimmins work as well, sorry but your are letting the side down and letting all this gender equality get to you-------------Remember-------------Us blokes are revolting, stand up for our rights

Peter, peter,I can see you ending back in hospital with talk like that ,better hope she don’t read this! Brave Man ?

We have a viny floor with rubber backed mats.
To clean take up the mats and shake outside and brush the floor, occasionally washing it if it's grubby.
It takes a few minutes.

Yep, so that's unanimous then :ROFLMAO:

Cream carpets went straight into storage as soon as we picked up the Motorhome. Cream! I ask you!!
Dust trapper mat by the doors and other rugs to hold the dirt and dog hair. No point us taking our shoes off most of the time as we have two mucky puppies.
Normal routine is to shake the mats out and Dyson the floor most mornings.

We have a coconut mat that’s fitted into the step and we also take our shoes off if they are wet or dirty, the fitted mat is green so it doesn’t show the muck up as much! Plus we have a small door mat don’t know what it’ll be like now that we have a dog,I’ll still probably wipe her paws...haha

Ha ha Jeanette at wiping paws. They stay fairly low to the floor even when fully grown so when they have a run in the grass, beach wherever they tend to get wet and/or mucky at least half way up. One of our went running at the water thinking it was a puddle yesterday and did a very graceful curve to get back when she was over half way under :)
