I came across this Super 8mm........

Thanks for that Terry, very interesting.
I started North Sea with Bristow a few years after that film, mainly S61 by then.

I thought the clip would be of interest to you, Bill. Some rare footage captured, and showing images of those who lost their lives doing their job.

Bill, at 3.03 mins in, the pilot mentions his book, do have the title of this book, please?

Brilliant. Very nostalgic.
And the oil is still there.!

The Norwegians a selling it to us, I believe?

Book arrived this morning, Bill. I just need some snow now to keep me in, and start a long uninterrupted read 👍

I just finished reading the book. Quite well written and very interesting I thought. Certainly Nigeria sounds quite a place, I’ve only ever visited briefly.

I have deliberately not started the read yet Bill, which is being saved for next month trip away.

Too much DIY going on.

I viewed the clip again. Crazy stuff going on there. Those inflatable boats look like ex military, I use to have one, great inflatables, with the front shroud for keeping stuff dry. I made a one man seated consul for the boat, 3mm al/al. This did away with the tiller control, was like moving from a horse and cart to a car. Fuel tank under the seat on the floor, top of consul had a dry section for the VHF radio.

Happy days!!

Some pics of our boat, you can see the similarities with the inflatable in the footage. Except I made the alloy consul to do away with tiller control.

These were military boats, we acquired two from a contact at Rosyth, sold the other to buy kit required to fit out consul. 😂

Pic 1, soaking up rays north west sound of mull. Pic 2, moored for the night, Tobermory Bay. Pic 3, stored at my home mooring.
