IMPORTANT - Fire Safety Sticks

Had a look at the one I have in the kitchen and it exhibited the problem. The one in the Motorhome was bought the same time back in 2021 (twin pack) and so that is bound toalso be the same I have no doubt, so emailed company to ask for replacement striker caps.

Thanks for the heads up (y)

I think there were a couple on there. Maybe consolidated into one single one? It is an important one.

Anyway, I think it is worthwhile providing some info here directly. The issue is around the striker cap on older Fire Safety Sticks becoming wet.
If you have the issue, email info@firesafetystick.com with a request for a replacement striker cap if it looks like this:
(note: the advice is to not touch or wipe the cap, but let it dry in the air)

They will ask for information such as place and date of purchase.

I sent a message last night. Had a reply waiting for me when I opened my email client this morning and is being dealt with. From what I can tell, all being sorted promptly and professionally.

This was within the reply ...
"Thank you for your email. Yes, that shouldn’t be an issue, sending replacements for you. Rest assured in the meantime the strikers despite being damp will still work in am emergency."

As I understand it, the manufacturers changed the material the striker was made from some time in 2023 and the new one doesn't develop this damp effect.

Replacement Striker caps arrived today (y)
Pleased with response and service from supplier. Fortunately not have needed to actually use the product as yet!

Pleased to hear that your caps have arrived. Lots of good reports regarding customer service, however, I reported my 2 damp strikers on 18th with photos of invoice and caps.
I followed it up with a report form on their website a few days ago, but have not received any reply or acknowledgement.
I am giving it 10 days in case they have posted replacements, but am surprised at the lack of response.

FWIW, after the intial reply confirming my email and requesting a photo I didn't have any further correspondence from them until Parcelforce delivered a shiny jiffy bag with a pair of caps.
I left them to it as I think they probably have a lot of replacements to send out but I guess a note of confirmation would have been handy.

Having read this I checked the cap on my stick which was made in Feb '23. Sure enough the striking material was liquid and runny. I sent an email with photos and received a reply same day to say a replacement is being arranged. Not received yet but it's only been 3 days.

Thanks for the alert @GMLS

Update, I received 2 of the updated strikers today, so that is a satisfactory conclusion to the issue.
However, I didn't have any communication from them despite my two emails to them. I assumed that they were perhaps busy with many requests.
Number14s post seems to refute this though having receiving a prompt reply.
I initially contacted them on the 18th and received replacements today the 27th, so maybe you will get them towards the end of next week.
