Had my quote from AIB, big jump from £334 to £516, no claims made. Is there a go to company for decent quotes at the moment bearing in mind that insurance seems to have gone up in most areas.

Tks Gordon I think we all need a bit of luck.😀

As others have mentioned all insurance has gone crazy. My V90 Volvo renewal is due end of month. £340.00 last year, £490.00 this time around. Managed to get them down to £419.00.
Trawled thro all the comparison sites and best I could find was £390.00 with poorer breakdown cover so looks like I will be staying with present insurer.

Try Adrian Flux as they deal with various companies and can get you the best deal , they changed my insurer this year to LV Highway from AXA who didnt want the business, but note all insurance has shot up even house insurance. Good luck

Without digging out last years premium to double check I would say this years is about the same for me. My van is probably older than a lot though and value probably plays a part.

Edit: mine is through a broker but policy is with Highway again this year, they did offer an alternative with LV (which is same company, LV own Highway) that was £70 less but a chunk more on excess

Tks Neil, I’ll try a few places I’m not sure the comparison sites are on our side! So it pays still to look for individual quotes.

My Scenic policy is via LV

What about travel insurance? There doesn't seem to be a thread on the forum for it - unless I am mistaken. Does anyone have any good companies to suggest? For a couple of years we have been with Nationwide, who give it to you free provide you are young and healthy. Now they have succumbed to some financial wrist-twisting by Aviva and given Aviva all their travel insurance. So of course it has shot up, and things that were free with Narionwide / UK insurance are now charged for. eg my Pernicious Anaemia.
Still, with the Nationwide account costing £13 a month (for which you used to get interest on the credit in the account, but surprisingly you don't now) plus the £167 extra for 'extras' such as being over 70, wife's heart attack and so on, the total including the 12 months at £13, the total would be £323 p.a. which includes world wide travel and cruises which, including the Americas is a lot better than we have paid in the past.

I think I saw that the Nationwide cover with Aviva has also changed time limits. I don’t have it myself so only repeating what I read elsewhere so please double check. 👍

I did notice that with the Aviva insurance they have removed the clause limiting the age to 80, so you centigenarians can still go paragliding and base jumping and you are (perhaps) covered.
I didn't notice what trip time limit is included though.

3 minutes 4 seconds per annum with a premium of £749.99 per minute ... :ROFLMAO:

You won't loose anything by giving Scenic a phone call https://www.scenicinsurance.co.uk/ I have been with them for years, their staff are very knowledgeable and their premiums are very reasonable. Last year for my self build with an agreed valuation the fully comp policy was only £147.
Part of the Swinton Group.
I'd second that - I'm paying less with them for my expensive Moho than I am for my car with Aviva this year

Van was 236 last year, did the rounds yesterday and got it for for 289, the original quote was 324 from Asdas quote site, from Performance direct with LV but they managed to lower it when I said I'd been with them a long time and had a better quote.
