Insurance.

Wait till you're 70 . . . . or rather, renew the week before you are 70 whether your old policy is running out or not.
Then when you are 80, you need to think of other forms of holiday . . . . .

5 weeks today for that milestone. Van insurance renewal 16th August ... I suspect that, if the Van Insurance doesn't kill me off, the Travel Insurance will ... Still, nice to have a choice is what I say ... (y) :ROFLMAO:

I passed 70 almost 7 years ago, and will probably pay whatever is necessary to continue travelling.

I'll only stop motorhoming when I think it's right for the safety of others. On reflection, I'll probably stop when Yvonne tells me to. ☹️

Then, perhaps a Harley Davidson mobility scooter? I can always tell her I'm stuck in the pub because the battery seems flat. 😄

Nah you dont want a Harley mobility scooter, you want a Colin Furze mobility scooter:

Or when you have prostate trouble and need the white throne AND to go fast, a Colin Furze toilet

my sons car was reversed into by a delivery van damaging the rear door repair cost going to be £3,800 !!! as that was more than 75% of the cars value it was written off a 16 plate scenic so not rare basic door £600 think this explains the increase on premiums , if it was mine i would have repaired it without claiming i think or bought it back off the ins comp

Losing the Will to live trying to get insurance at the moment. Stupidly high quotes everywhere. Although I do not condone it I can really understand why people drive uninsured, it's a hardship to get and then you pay exorbitantly for something that is potentially not used. I DO NOT CONDONE driving uninsured BTW !!

I hit 70 two months before my insurance was due this year and I think my premium was £20 more than last year.

From what they told me the mileage is a nominal figure really.
Just before I took out my new policy, I checked to see what the price would be if I increased the mileage as a 'just in case'. A fairly small increase resulted in a major price hike.
(I stayed with the old mileage as it would be cheaper to just take out a new policy at the point where I was likely to hit the original mileage limit I chose).

Seems strange your has gone up so much. Have you had any significant birthday in the last year?

This year I decided to try NFU insurance figuring that lots of farmers are still driving at 90. So I hope that when I get to 80 they will still insure me. They gave me a reasonable price, and taking into consideration they don't require a Tracker with £150 a year monitoring, they were cheaper than most motorhome insurers.

My Safeguard insurance went up to £482 this year as I had a claim earlier in the year. 2017 tag axle Comanche with full breakdown included also no tracker required.

My renewal was over £100 more expensive than last year.
On comparison sites using exactly the same info I got a quote £40 cheaper than last year.

And who is it? The same company!!!!!!

Mine with Flux went up this year to £600, double that of last year. I went to a Motorhome comparison website and got the same cover for £260. Pays to shop around. Being a loyal customer gets you nothing.
