Is my tail pipe legal

Hi all.
I am looking to buy another motorhome and the one I have seen that takes my fancy is Peugeot Boxer based circa 2010. I noticed from the photos, supplied by the dealer, that the exhaust is exiting on the nearside in front of the habitation door.
My question is:- Does anyone know if this arrangement is legal as it shoves all the diesel fumes onto the pavement. Also under the awning if it is deployed.
Your learned thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated as it would be useful to have the necessary info before I tackle the dealer.

I would imagine if it’s a left hooker it may be right, as it would not exhaust on to the pavement

Would it not be possible to put a right angle on the end ?, blowing the exhaust back, or just leave it and see what the mot man says ?

MOT doesn't concern itself with exhaust exit point....
Only noise/emissions and security of the system and potential entry of exhaust fumes into cabin.

Exit point possibly/probably comes under construction/and use regs/type approval etc.

Peugeot boxers / Fiat Ducatos of that age normally exit from the offside on RHD, mine does so it must be a custom exhaust but the fuel tank is in the way on the nearside so it cant be a standard fit unless the fuel tank has moved too.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. I looked at the workshop manual and it appears there are two alternative silencer arrangements. One exits on the left and the other on the right. So I shall enquire as to the history of this and get it rectified. If it has been modified and the fuel tank moved then that would surely put the insureability of the vehicle into question and the dealer can keep it.

Mine is just in front of rear two axles about 3ft above ground on n/s Doesnt seem to be MOT problem :)

Some motorhomes have a continental body on a right hand drive van so the door is on the opposite side to the pavement

Did some digging re this point regarding the habitation door/exhaust configuration and apparently most major motorhome companies have the exhaust on the opposite side to the door, which makes obvious sense.

Mine is based on a sprinter RHD and the exhaust exits to the near side. Never had anything mentioned about is so far so fairly sure that exit side isn’t an issue

My Chausson is right hand drive with the habitation door on the off side ie the continental side, my exhaust exit pipe is below the exit door habitation, , I had a new stainless steel exhaust system made and fitted after I bought the van and the exhaust was put back as was , it has passed many MOTs since then no problem, my new exhaust was made by a specialist , and on inspection when the van was on his lift I noticed that the system had one less silencer box than previously fitted, I questioned this at the time and was assured that this was correct and that I could expect better performance from the van too, Yeah I thought I bet, but hey ho he was right the van does perform really well now and passes MOT no problem, it is on a Fiat 2.8 JTD 3.5 tonnes7.6 mtrs long, The tail pipe would pollute the awning however as it is under the hab door but why would I run the engine with the awning up?

Hi all. Thanks for your input on this.
The dealer has now agreed the exhaust is non standard and has changed it FOC. I can now look forward to collecting the new MoHo in the not too distant future.

After reading through this thread thought I would check my 2019 Pilote c class.
Right hand drive with hab door on off side, exhaust on near side.

Same as Obanboy, 2010 reg. And up to date no problems, the tailpipe is turned down to the gutter/kerb not blowing onto the pavement
