Is this the stupidest idea on the roads?

The largest r about here is just down the rd from me, sos so many folk still do not understand the simple lane and over head markers on the bridge, every morning and tea time we hear the f brigade and ambies with blues and twos trying to get to some poor sods mangled up in cars.
Also people dont know how long it takes a HGV to stop when they drive into its path or lane, iv seen drivers swap 3 lanes back and forth not knowing where they are going until its to late.
As for the cycle lanes around it, dont even go there.

Psycho lanes are the worst idea ever it just encourages them.

In Bodmin, they've taken what used to be a perfectly good mini-roundabout (see first piccy below), with proper give-way lines etc. and turned it into the mess in the second piccy, where nobody has priority. It isn't a roundabout but, unfortunately, it looks like one and there have been several crashes where someone effectively turned right into the path of another who was following the A389 -- the de facto major road. Similar with 'fake' pedestrian crossings a little way along each of the roads (see 3rd piccy for example). These are just a few bricks laid into the roads. They are not 'proper' pedestrian crossings, but that doesn't stop pedestrians from stepping out in front of oncoming cars!

I understand the 'principle' with mini roundabouts is the smaller the white painted bump in the middle is, the more it is expected you ignore it!

That roundabout in Bodmin looks very strange I have to say. Looks like there has been an attempt at making it "blend in", which is maybe the opposite of what you want with road directions & instructions surely?

There is a similar thing in Pudsey we lived there and used it several times a day but it was confusing to everyone, no ide what it cost to do it, just put some decent tarmac down and clear signage and we'll figure it out.

Proceed forward to see the rest of it.

I suppose everyone has acquainted themselves with the new Highway Code regarding cyclists and pedestrians?

Youu need to know them particularly with cyclists as many of them use front and rear cameras now. They upload footage to the Police who mostly prosecute (more so than with dashcam footage from motorists).

AIUI, the theory is that the confusion that results is supposed to increase the perceived risk to make people think and so avoid accidents. However, both my instinct and real life events seem to call that theory into question!

Just don't mention indicators, most people (cars and bikes) don't bother with them at roundabouts, and if they do use them, they just get it so wrong!

Multilane roundabouts just confuse folk, very easy to get into the wrong lane but difficult to get out of it.

What do we think of this, I just nicked a screen shot from Harrys Garage video.

Try doing that on Linux.

Saw something about ISA several months ago. While you'll be able to override it in the first batch or two with that fitted, AIUI, plans are in place to remove that so that you will not be able to drive faster than what the car thinks is the current speed limit.

Does not apply in N Ireland, confusing for mainland visitors.
