June 23 adventure.

Just had a very rare sighting of a Hummingbird Hawk Moth, I was sat in the cab about to put in our destination and it flew past, not seen anything quite like it and tried to take a picture, but it was flitting about too fast but I got a video but can't post that so I'll figure out how to later but look it up.

Had they finished the new car van parks then? They were doing the gayedccarpsrk last time we were there, I could just about make it to the beach then, no chance now, the loos were enough.

We have a blue badge so it's pretty level there.

Not had much to post lately, just wandered around staying in so so places, Sunday we did the forth bridge again, and last night near North Berwick, I looked again this morning as we went in for coffee, we counted 27 vans parked up for the night (blinds down), but very little mess thankfully, too many for the size of town though.

Sadly, everything changes Kev.

My uncle would occasionally take my sister and I up to North Berwick from Wooler in his blue van (with a cream roof) to look out over to the Bass Rock.

There wouldn't be another vehicle around, but it was over 65 years ago when most folk didn't have any kind of vehicle. 😳

We overnighted in a truck layby stop last night but it was very quiet, we tried a couple of places near Berwick that we stayed at ages ago but signs and height barriers now, this is the worst part of the UK for us, people lovely of course but limited WC places.

We used to love a Friday and Saturday night at North Berwick, I got there early, Bea would drive down in her car after work, which would be parked elsewhere and away from our park up just past the golf club, I never park up at the top, too many loose golf balls.

We don’t bother going down now, far too busy, too many inconsiderate folks in vans have spoiled this area. We will do a day trip in our car, lunch at the Golfers Rest, a beach wander, lungs filled with sea air, then home. NB is not the same as it use to be for considerate WC’s.…shame.

Lots of spaces when you get your a-s over here in september big ears.car park 1.png

Of course we should be aware of a site dedicated to wild camping doesn't help as far as the public is concerned.

We did Bamburgh Castle yesterday, we havevalways wanted to but don't get over this way often, lovely place but about as un disabled friendly as possible.

Fortunate being disabled we got in for £11 + £4 parking but they are not set up for disabled arriving in a van, we had to park right at the bottom of the new carpark and then 30 minutes later were picked up in a golf buggy.

No one asked for our tickets anywhere not even in the castle so anyone could just walk in for free.

Apart From Scotland that part of Northumberland is one of my favourite areas. We use the Beadnell overnight camper car park overnight stopover whenever we’re passing through the area (If we can book it). Last year we rented a large house in The Wyndings at Bamburgh, right next to the Castle, for a couple of weeks for a family do. The grandchildren loved the castle so much that we had to make 2 visits.
