The landline just rang 5 mins ago.

Was a recorded message saying that my Amazon Prime account will be renewed at the end of the month, if I want to cancel it then press button 1...

Thing is, I don't have an Amazon Prime account and never have šŸ˜
But many people do...

Be safe out there folks and watch out for sneaky scammers, they are getting craftier by the day! 😳 šŸ˜‰

A friend has just made this excellent point:-

Primary Rule: never, ever respond to unsolicited phone calls, emails, texts or messages directly. Always, always make your own way to the website (use Google, Bing or some other recognised search engine), find the contact details there and initiate contact yourself.

I have always done this, but many people aren't always savvy about modern IT communications (I include phones - landline and mobile - in that statement).

Scammers that are becoming ever more sophisticated and convincing, so it pays to take heed of the 'Primary Rule' above.

Posted this SCAM a few weeks ago, current one seems to be ā€œI’m xxxx from Microsoftā€, my response ā€œget a lifeā€ put the phone down.

Being a complete numpty I tend to delete everything that comes from an unknown domain, fortunately we have a son who is a geek, so if I get something that may be kosher I send it to him for confirmation or not. I do though regret the demise of the Nigerians who tell me that my charity has been gifted x amount of dollars from some obscure personage, they were great fun to play with (seeing that we closed the charity down several years ago). All I get now are grannies wanting sex, bitcoins or someone has died and they want to get me to claim their money-------------I'll settle for the grannies

There was a time I got loads of emails offering penis extensions, don't know why they started arriving or why they stopped, certainly I could never work out how to unsubscribe..... Now I get House of Bath and Saga!šŸ‘µšŸ‘µ

I've had fake internet on phone and fake EE email this week. Building must have slowed a bit locally because I havent had any retirement home invites through the letterbox for a couple of weeks
