Hello all,
We are due to leave for Europe in the next few days. We have found we have a leak coming from the roof light just above the bed. I believe the rooflight is a Remis Streamline. On investigation I found the rubber seal that the dome closes on was distorted and out of place.(probably got stuck to the dome on opening and did not reseat properly) I reseated the seal confident that this was the source of the leak. Whilst investigating I found that the dome was coming apart ( it is made in two parts to give a double glazed effect). We had this problem last year in the bathroom and replaced the dome with the last spare in the country!) With the bedroom dome I decided to do a temporary repair with tape as the two halves had only just started to part.

We went in the motorhome today to find water dripping from the rooflight just as before. So it can only be the seal betweeen the roof and roof light. As I want to do a quick temporary fix so we can getaway I wanted to know how to achieve this.

There is a lip all round the rooflight where it meets the roof and I think I can tape this.
What is the best tape to use ? Paul

Hi Paul, i carry a roll of bitumastic roofing tape as emergency repair tape, its about 4-5 inches wide black really sticky when warm and covers well, make sure you buy expensive as the cheap stuff doesnt stick so well, it does go off and will go brittle so replace your roll often

Have you checked the screws where the raising arms connect to the roof light? I had a leak on a different Remis model to yours and the screws had worked loose enough to cause a bad leak.

Thankyou for your help. Optimistically I rang the motorhome service place we use and they agreed to fit me in. I would have been happy with a temporary job and return after the trip for a permanent solution, but he reseated the rooflight and he says he has a replacement dome that he will search out for me. I am returning in a few weeks for a Hab service.

I have used this company several times and would like to give them a plug because I have always received friendly and professional service.
