Lft testing for france departure (help required)

As I understand it, France is relaxing entry restrictions in the next few days.
We won’t need to be tested before we go.
The only problem with that is Your more likely to be on the ferry with someone with Covid I was happy enough with getting tested because everyone else had to as well

We will be using the Chunnel, so basically we won’t be mixing with anybody else, just sat in the van, drinking premade tea.

Elaine found a Tweet from the French Consul General in the London Embassy issued late last night. It's in French, but the gist is that Tests are no longer required with effect from today, 12th February. Can't see any articles in the Guardian yet, and I haven't received the UK Gov email confirming the apparent relaxation of the Rules, so watch this space!

UPDATE 10:44 Article in the Independent by Simon Calder confirms the LFT waiver. 'Eurostar staff at St Pancras no longer checking for pre departure tests'

Off now to cancel the Lloyds Pharmacy appointments for next week! (y)

If you have time, I think ordering one each of the diy tests would be good to take with you. You get them posted to UK address, take test whenever you need to (we did ours before entering Portugal ), photograph stock result with passport, then send to a link and get certificate back. Just in case rules/ variants change. NXhealthcare were £11.99 each and worked great.

Anyone driven into Italy recently. I think LFT needed within 24hrs before, but is anyone actually checking on the 2 motorway in from St Gotthard tunnel Switzerland? Last time I went that way the border wasn’t even manned.

Did you need a test to enter Portugal Ruth?
I presumed the road borders were open.
Officially, when we crossed 29/2....yes! But absolutely no checks, did not even stop.
From 13/2.....reciprocal agreement allows NHS certificate so no test needed

Arriving to Portugal by Land

  • It is mandatory to present the EU COVID Digital Certificate. Citizens who are not holders of the Digital Covid EU certificate in vaccination, test, or recovery modalities, will have to present proof of a negative RT-PCR test (TAAN), performed in the last 72 hours, or rapid antigen test (TRAg), performed in the last 24h.
  • In the case of travel by land, each traveller must obtain information about the measures and restrictions existing in each one of the countries of transit, directly with their authorities
