Lime tasting water

I filled my water tank from home as usual before setting off, but on arrival it tasted very limey. It's a 90 ltr tank and I wouldn't be able to reach all of the floor of the tank to clean it. What do you folk clean the tank with and how?

I've used Milton; let it stand overnight, then flush it through, but sounds as though you've got the perfect mixer for gin ;)

Edit:-

Worth reading the following post before using it?

Beware, apparently Milton can damage your boiler, better to use a product specially for the purpose. I quote from elsewhere:
"
Hi We have been advised by Truma that you should NEVER use Milton, or similar products, in your fresh water tank as if any gets into your boiler it will corrode the Stainless steel in the boiler and cause it to leak and fail!!

There are other products on the market, such as Aqua sol which will sterilise your tank without damaging the boiler. They are a little more expensive, but replacing a boiler is very expensive!

Aqua Sol - is a complete water treatment that treats 625 litres of water. It is tasteless and odourless and easy to use. Simply add 1 capful (10ml) to every 25 litres of water. Aqua Sol kills bacteria and viruses, removes tastes and odours caused by plastics, chlorine and metals and helps keep water fresh.

PuriClean 400g - Cleans and purifies all stored water systems. All water tanks, pipes and taps become contaminated with dirt, stains, bacteria and algae. PuriClean provides a simple, effective method of cleaning and purifying the complete water system. PuriClean is non-toxic and non-caustic. It does not taste, smell, foam or harm any components in the water system.

We have always used Milton, hence the need for a completely reconditioned boiler!!"

Yes it's supposed to be true that you can damage your boiler but the way I do it with Milton none of the treated water ever goes into the hot water as I fill tank so hot water boiler is full then add Milton and only run through the cold taps and then leave overnight or more . Do a first drain down and flush through just cold taps then clean water again through the whole system.

Puriclean user here, been using in the motorhome ( twice a year ) since new for 11 years and the water tastes as good as it does at home.

We still drink water straight from the tank with no ill effects.

Whoever wrote "PuriClean .... does not .... foam " has obviously never used it. I've used it a few times in different vans and it does a good job - but it does foam up when you fill up the tank, takes ages to make sure you have filled it properly to the top.
